I am going to my dad's surprise 50th party and there will be a ton of family members I haven't seen in years. What kind of attire is appropriate? I am a 23 year old female.....

Go with some nice slacks or a mid-knee length skirt in a conservative color. Pair that with some low (2-3 inches) heels in a compliamentary dark color. On top, wear a form-fitting but not skin-showing top, underneath a blazer or jacket that goes with the pants. Attractive jewelry and makeup/hair, but not too much. Think job interview at a casual company. No loud or overly trendy accessories.

You should check with whoever's organizing the party to see what the requested dress code is. If it's an informal party, like a barbecue, a nice top and jeans or shorts will be fine. If it's slightly more fancy or taking place at a restaurant, you should go with a nice top and a skirt or dressy pants. Since family's involved, it's probably a good idea not to involve too much cleavage or any super short shorts or skirts. Have fun at the party!!

Location and time of day would play a great part in your attire decision. Is there a host/hostess? Ask them to give you a dress "code"
If not, wear a nice sundress for an outside event or an nice pant suit outfit for indoors. Wear your dad's favorite color, that's always a nice touch.

Good jeans or trousers with a nice top. Don't show too much skin with the blouse. Or maybe a nice sun dress and flip flops. Depends on the weather and where you live I suppose. I would try to look nice but casual if it were me.

Ask the person who is throwing the party. Consider where the party is being held. If it is in a fancy restaurant, dress up. If it is a picnic wear something comfortable and casual.
