Will truck driving mess up a already injured back worse?

my boyfriend will start truck driving school soon. I'm really worried that his back won't be able to take it. He has bulging disk in between his shoulder blades and another one in his lower back, will this affect him in the long run or short run? What I mean is will mess his back up worse?

with the new trucks, they have fully adjustable phnuematic seats that are very very comfy and fully adjustable. The trucks have power steering with fully adjustable steering wheels as well. However, the reall worry is in loading or unloading freight. Many companies have the driver load or unload. Some companys re imburse the driver if he wants to use lumpers (local people to unload the trucks) a few pay for the lumper as part of the load. I was lucky and worked for a company that gave me the option of loading myself or using a lumper and then re imbursed me each payday for any lumpers I used. You just pay them and get a receipt to get re imbursed. I worked for one company that gave us checks to pay lumpers at each stop.

It depends on the truck. But yes, truck driving will absolutely worsen your boyfriends back pain. A bulging disc could become a herniated or ruptured disc very quickly and then he could really have problems.
It won't really matter what length of run he would be taking, its the motion and the condition of the roads coupled with the "roughness" of a truck ride.
I had an already bulging disc, rupture when my boyfriend hit a deep chuck hole in a parking lot that we were only idling through, in our pick up. It's that simple.
Even if he didn't already have back problems, long term driving a vehicle like that will most likely cause back "issues" with anyone.

Yes, it will make his back worse. I recall an episode of "Growing Pains" where Leo DiCaprio's character's father was a truck driver who just kept driving, and he ended up hurting his back so badly that he had to get surgery, and he was never able to drive the truck again.

The Moral of the Story:
Sorta Bad Back Problems + Truck Driving = Horrible Back Problems Lasting for Life

It might, just because he's holding his back in the same way for many hours. I'd suggest trying a back pillow... you can find them in many stores and most Chiropractors can get you a good one.

I've used a back pillow for years... they basically help to line up your spine in the right way while you are sitting for extended periods.
