Should the hole be facing towards the listeners or should the big round speaker thing on the side be facing the listeners?
On the back panel of the sub it says 80 watts and the little speakers 20 watts each, theres 5 of them

Place the subwoofer where you will normally sit (move couch out of the way first). Then, walk around where your main speakers are while playing some good bass music. Find out where the bass is best and place the subwoofer there (then move your couch back).

If you have an SPL meter, that would be best, but you can use your ears as well.

subwoofers don't need careful positioning, very good models will state how far from a solid wall they should be positioned so they have something to 'push' against.
As these speakers are just to pump bass which isn't directional it doesn't need careful placement and can be positioned just about anywhere and in any direction as long as you aren't obstructing the 'port' (hole) or speaker.
Other speakers should be mounted at ear height and pointed towards where you sit., medium and high frequency sound is directional, high frequency very much so.

The best place for the sub-woofer to be is underneath the tv set facing you into the room you can even lie it on its side if space is a problem but it should be on the floor for optimum effect the speaker thing should be facing you not the hole

With the little system you are describing, the safe bet is with the brand label facing out.

Your owners manual should have some info on placement as well.

I always put the sub on the floor, if you can put it in the corner of the room then the vibrations with travel through the walls and amplify the bass.
