True, you are entitled to a free credit report per bureau per year. BUT if you want your scores, you have to pay for those (they're not free).
You can either go to: www.annualcreditreport.com or go to the sites of the threebureaus individually:
www.transunion.com
www.experian.com
www.equifax.com
The other sites make you sign up for a bunch of crap that you really don't need. The first site is the government-sanctioned site, so they won't try to sell you a "package" of credit report tracking and whatnot.

You can't get your credit score for free. You can get credit reports, but not the score.

You can ESTIMATE you credit score for free using MyFico.com (link below). This site is run by FairIsaac, the guys who turn those credit reports into your personal three-digit number.

If you want your credit score, you have to buy it or con some loan guy into telling it to you by applying for a big loan.

Just contact the three credit reporting agencies yourself, get rid of the middle man!

1. Equifax
2. Transunion
3. Experian

you will have different credit information at each of those agencies so be sure to contact all three.

Sites like Freecreditscore will do the job, however they overcharge you. By law you are entitled to one free credit report every year from each agency, so just contact them directly.

EDIT: The lady below me is wrong

Whatever you do, don't go to freecreditreport.com...it's not free, they cheat people out of their money by using deceptive marketing practices.
