In an ideal situation, both parents would be involved in raising the child, no matter what the child's gender. There has been research done that shows that little girls who have their fathers involvement have a higher self-esteem than those who don't. Little girls also need good women role-models, which is where a mother is important. Boys need the nurturing of a mother, and good the role-model a father can provide. HOWEVER, if one parent is consistently on drugs, or is abusive, I don't feel the child should be exposed to that situation. I think parents forfeit the right to be involved in their children's lives if they fail to act responsibly.

Reguardless of what the sex of the baby, every baby could use a good male and female roll modle. If you and daddy can't get along the best option is a healthy balance of both. If that's not posible due to distance or perhaps an irrisponcible parent, then the parent raising the baby should do their best to nurture both aspects of the baby. Little girls need their daddy's just as bad as boys do. And vice versa.

Your roots are showing. But since you asked a good healthy relationship would be that both parent be involved and that both parent NEVER CRITICIZE the other parent in front of the child, that still is their parent. But that being said not many get that point and land up f*cking up thier childs relationship with the other parent. Making them think well my parents were like that I guess I need to let my roots show too.

I don't believe that. Gender should not be the guidelines to the amount/ type of love a child recieves. Both parents should act equally on a childs behalf and treat them all the same no matter what.

Uh.. this sounds so sexist that it has to be based in that.. This guy needs to quit waffling and step up to the plate. He knew the risks when he had unprotected sex with you. Now the thought of years of child support are overwhelming him.. consequences of thinking with the "wrong head".
Tell him to be a man and do what is right.

No, Way. The most suitable should be the main carer. You have to take everything in to account. And both should still be involved, its not the child's fault. Never forget that
