if you're going to make outrageous claims that can't be backed up (unless you can truly communicate with the dead), isn't it fair for people to poke fun at those claims? so often i hear responses to my questions like, "when you die, you can ask god" or "don't be mad when you're dead and you go to hell, you had you chance to believe." come on people, show me some proof!!!

Basically, they're saying "I believe I'm right." This is not an argument in any sense of the word...unless you count tautologies.

even as someone who does mediumship.. I never really put my claims out there
because R&S isnt a place for proof
we can only give opinions
so unless someone is asking me specifically a question about mediumship
then I will answer questions with " I believe " or " in my opinion "
I wouldnt be so arrogant to put across my beliefs as fact in a place that I couldnt prove myself

You can never understand what is God's word about if you do not receive the Holy Spirit. When there is any element of pride or conceit remaining, Jesus cannot teach us anything. Jesus will reveal to us everything we have held within ourselves before His grace began to work.

His disciples constantly asked Him questions, and He constantly explained things to them but they did not understand until after they received the Holy Spirit ( see John 14:26 )

Our spiritual condition needs to be changed before we can have understanding of God's word and God's plan.
