"Atheist doctors are likely to practice medicine among the underprivileged than religious physicians, even though most religions call on the faithful to serve the poor, according to the results of large cross-sectional survey of US medical practitioners published in Annals of Family Medicine.

Researchers from the University of Chicago and Yale New Haven Hospital report that 31 percent of physicians who were more religious—as measured by "intrinsic religiosity" as well as frequency of attendance at religious services—practiced among the underserved, compared to 35 percent of physicians who described their religion as atheist, agnostic or none."

really interesting...even if a margin of error places them about even, then I think that speaks volumes to those in R&S that blather on about atheists with no moral code.

Moral and ethic conduct does not depend on someone's religious practice or individual faith. Moral fiber is a quality that you either have or not. It cannot be taught. Organized religion teaches totheir adepts to take care of the poor and to tend of others. Yet,that is not the case with me,since I cannot be a homeless man due to the fact that I go online every once in a while. I do not own anything and sleep in my car;yet all the churches I've gone for help tell me that all I need is faith and that God will help me. What's the point in giving this people the non-profit benefits? All this organizations out there that claim helping the poor need to be restructured and be made into what they really are. I visited a church recently that all it cared about that day was that the stage was ready for Cece Winnans. The human spirit is not bound to religion or phylosophy. If you made an oath to help others, then that's what you'll do,regardless of wht other's say.

Your disbelief in God doesn't determine your medical skills. As long as the atheist doctor didn't try and force his beliefs on me I'd be fine. Same goes with Islamic, Buddhist, Agnostic etc doctors. I don't give a flip what you believe as long as you can give me good service I'll be happy. Not all atheists are immoral as you say. Some atheists have done less wrong in their lives than a Christian has. Just because you believe Jesus and God are not real doesn't mean you have no morals.

Who said atheists aren't moral?

On the other hand, atheist doctors don't represent all atheists any more than Finnish dancers represent all Finns. Less so, if anything.

A majority of doctors only care about how much money they can get from patients for any and all treatment that is not covered by their insurance rather than accept whatever payment the patients insurance is able to cover. It should be about healing the sick and the reward itself for such an act not about getting more money to buy a 2008 BMW to replace the 2004 BMW

Interesting, but there is only a 4% difference. What is the margin of error?

Of course Atheists are moral. WE don't consider drowning, Plaguing, slaughtering, and barbecuing millions, or conspiring to have your own kid brutally beaten and executed, to be 'love'.

because atheists acknowledge that there is no help from above and that if people in need get any help, their only hope is to get it from other fellow humans as there is no other sources (like the imaginary person above)

Hmmmmm, obviously this "study" utterly ignored the many Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, etc. hospitals whose doors are open to all regardless of ability to pay. Whose free clinics are staffed with full-time physicians of many denominations.

When you want to rant, dear, make sure you use data that's objective and not merely propagandistic.
