Lacking the political will to make conscious, rapid, drastic changes, AMERICANS WILL BE SUBJECT TO MOTHER NATURE'S ADJUSTMENTS; She did not negotiate with the Mayor of New Orleans; nor will She negotiate the American Way of Life when Saudi Arabia's Ghawar field collapses of its own accord.

If this is a quote, please can you state where it was taken from so that I can view the quote in context?
EDIT:
Thanks for the ref. Having read the entire paragraph, I now understand, and sadly it can be seen repeatedly that USA ignores and even denies any responsibility it has for helping change the way we live.
172 countries have signed up to the Kyoto protocol - where is the USA? The US government has, in fact, announced that it has no intention of signing up.
The biggest single producer of CO2 emmisions, and they're not even considering signing up!

You make it sound as if non Americans are going to escape mother natures wrath . Never underestimate mother nature she will not negotiate with you either nor will she care what your way of life is . When she cleans house she,s going to clean it all not just America

It does appear that mother nature is punishing the US for it's world-wide destruction. This could be that with the backing of NATO and the UN, many poor countries are afraid to act against US policies and the destruction of those countries environments. However, mother nature neither recognises nor adheres to any nation's policies. It could be Armagheddan for the US as punishment for the suffering and misery that it's people bring to the world. As for Bush, I hope the next lighning bolt is his. How can he justify giving more arms and financial aid to Israel when the whole world knows that those weapons WILL be used to kill INNOCENT women and children in Palestine and Lebanon?

Nature doesn’t negotiate, and the best we can do is learn to go with the flow, and try and survive, all our attempts to pacify nature have been short lived to say the least, older species then ours have suffered extinction, i don’t think its just the Americans who need to look out, i think we all need to respect and understand nature better

Sure, makes sense to me. In the context of global warming, we've got a pretty good idea of the negative consequences which are coming but we're doing very little to avoid them. Thus we'll face the consequences of messing with nature.

Nature will always survive.
Most of the earth's history has been dominated by giant algae as the dominant animal. May happen again, with a toxic (to us) atmosphere.
