I think they should be free to travel there and get themselves imprisoned or killed for butting in where they are not wanted.

As a Christian and as someone who actually lived there I would say NO, not right now anyway. It is really dangerous and while it is one thing to go to Africa and put your life in danger in the sense of being martyered it is another to put others lives in danger. There is a war going on and when you get kidnapped and other people have to put there lives on the line to save you then that isn't such a good idea. If you really want to help then go with an experienced NGO that is working to stabilize the country. Given the current climate there are not many of them right now either.

I say this but of course if God tells someone to go to Afghanistan then I guess they have to go. I went but I was safe in a military base and not preaching out in the countryside, which is mostly mine fields by the way.

Also anyone who goes to any Muslim country needs to really take the time to understand the culture. The culture in Afghanistan is so old and just plan different then anything within our frame of reference. Being a convert to another religion is just about the very worse thing you can do there.

Yes, they should stay out. Missionaries of any religion can and do create unnecessary problems within any country. You would not like it if the Muslims from Afghanistan sent Missionaries into your community.

No. I think that they are going where they are called by God, and are trying to make that part of the world a better place.

If my choice is between a freedom loving missionary and a fanatical and radical islamicist that cuts off people's heads, then I'll take the missionary over the radical.

Mission work takes many different forms, from medical care to education, to simply helping people grow crops. So, in a land where the norm is to stone a percieved sinner to death, maybe some good old fashioned mission work is needed.

Afghanistan is a dangerous place to be at the moment, and other than get in the way, and very probably find themselves on the working end of unfriendly guns, Christian missionaries perhaps should focus on starvation in Africa, killer diseases in Africa, abuse of women in Africa, and also the unspeakably vile crimes of Christians in Africa.

why because it's hard? Christian missionaries should go wherever there are people who need Jesus. however hard that might be.

When Jim Elliot and 4 other men took a spear - they could have stayed out of that area, but later much of that tribe gave their lives to Jesus. But it was dangerous and 5 men lost their lives.

No! Missionaries of any religion should be completely free to present their faith, anywhere in the world.

NEW CATHOLIC - There is no such thing as a Muslim missionary.

If Christian missionaries want to go there they are free to, if they don't want to go don't. Simple as that.

Preaching, conversion and recruitment are not part of the Islamic faith. Who is trying to fool anyone? I am a Muslim i have never in my life ever seen, witnesses or heard of one single Muslim trying to convert another person. There is no compulsion of religion in Islam. I think you need to get your facts straight. And i only answer questions when asked about Islam i never "preach" to anyone. It make zero difference to a Muslim if your a Muslim or not. We are all responsible for our own selves we dont get brownie points from God for converting people. Only to answer questions honestly and fully when asked. You dont want to hear from a Muslim, dont ask them questions then. Simple as that.

Muslim advice to Christian missionaries :

Stay out of war zones in Muslim countries.

If you are caught then all the Muslims are not obligated to stand up and rally for your safe release.

We allow Muslim missionaries here don't we?

Peace!

Odd that this answer gets a thumbs down, it is a known fact that Muslims are free to preach in our Streets, Colleges, and even in our Prisons here in the US and in western Europe, this is not opinion or bashing Islam, just a statement of fact. We live in free societies, I would have it no other way, why are some Muslims afraid of education and freedom?

Peace! (again)

No such thing as Muslim Missionaries? Don't fool yourself, who are the Muslims preaching at our Colleges? Heck who are the Muslims preaching on this forum? Maybe they are not missionaries by name but when the go into our Prisons and preach they are doing mission work.

Since they only mean to help I say no, they should be there. It is , however, an added burden for our troupes to try to keep them safe. I know this for sure though...if they are not called then they should not be there at all.
