I replaced the fuel pump so that's good, so I assume that the camshaft lobe which cycles the pump is worn. Anyone have a cheap fix besides changing the cam or installing an electric pump? Car has over 100k miles not worth too much work or money. Thanks.

I replaced the fuel filter, it was in good condition, and so I am sure the cam lobe that cycles the pump shaft is worn out, it won't cycle the pump lever high enough to prime the pump? So guess I have to install a new cam ( not worth the money ) or electric fuel pump. I hope someone might have had the same problem, and maybe they used a longer pin or different pump. So thanks anyway.

First, change your fuel filter, then double check your work. Also you could get a 12 volt fuel pump and run it off a toggle switch. Running a clear fuel filter would let you see what's going on.

Did you check the fuel filter too? Could be fuel filter is clogged.
