It's just a theory, after all and it conflicts with the account of the ascension in Revelation.

Way to not understand how airplanes/helicopters/birds work. These things fly because of a difference in pressure above and below the object, caused by forward motion and the shape of the wings!
They do not disobey the laws of gravity, but simply have a greater force pushing them upward than downward. Now I ask you, how exactly is God planning on doing this? Are people going to grow wings immediately before the rapture?

How will God lift ONLY CHRISTIANS while still obeying physical laws like gravity?

Actually this is a better question than you think!

Up until the end of the 16th century Christians believed in the Aristotelian view of the universe, as a set of concentric spheres, like the layers of an onion. The earth was at the center, then came the moon, the sun, the seven planets, each in their own sphere, and finally the stars in the outside sphere. Outside that was -heaven-!

It was believed that 'natural laws' like gravity were in place only on earth and that the surrounding spheres were all moved by the hand of God, in fact their regular clock-like motion was irrefutable proof of God's existence!

But around 1600 our whole view of the universe changed. Copernicus showed that the earth wasn't the center of the universe (actually he thought the sun was the center). Kepler showed that the orbit of planets were not perfect circles. Using this information, Issac Newton figured out that the planets moved as 'falling bodies', in other words that the laws of physics were consistant throughout the universe!

Of course religious leaders tried to deny this new view of the universe, thinking that if people knew the traditional view was wrong they would lose their faith. Eventually, though, as evidence mounted, they had to give up the fight and accept it. But it still says in Revelation that 'the stars will fall from the sky'.

In our time we're fighting over evolution the same way. Maybe in another 50 years the creationists will have to give up.

If God can create the entire universe ex nihilo, I don't see Him having any problem with suspending gravity. And miracles presuppose there are natural laws or else there wouldn't be anything unusual about them.

Sir,

That is true, I told an airplane and a helicopter they shouldn't fly because of gravity. The book of Acts explains why.

Peace

I don't know how much thought went into this question. Of course we believe in the theory of gravity.

Not wanting to be a flamer or anything, but the Bible is full of paradoxes and contradictions. Nothing in it should be taken literally. But anyone can believe in what they chose.

It is a Law of Gravity I believe. God will take us however he feels fit. I do believe God is above all laws since he is the law creator.

the ascension of people going to heaven that you read about in revelation, consists of spirits of people going to heaven, there is no gravity in the spiritual realm, gravity affects physical objects and physical matter only.

I believe in the theory of Gravity.
Jesus could raise the dead I think he could overcome gravity also.

Do people who take the Bible literally know the ratio of a circumference of a circle to its diameter?

No, it's not 3/1.
