the church was behind the murder of their Lord? They don't like the religion that killed Jesus, but they are supporting the institution that killed him.

note - I have no hatred and am not casting blame or doubt, this is just something that has always puzzled me. I honestly don't know why people support an institution for the sake of someone who was against the institutional way of life.

And I say unto you, when you pray do not do as the hypocrits do, praying in the streets and cynagouges where they can be seen. Instead enter into your closet..

Wasn't this what Jesus said in the sermon on the mount? Doesn't this denote the idea that church is an unneccessary institution? I get the impression that as long as you say what you mean, anywhere is as holy as the next when talking to god.

The seeking of fellowship is promoted by one of the apostles (can't remember which), not christ.

Jesus was against the traditions of man over scripture and he was against hypocrisy. IE having a tree in one eye and pointing out the speck in your brothers.

He was not against religion, he followed the laws of Moses.
Show me where Jesus was against organized religion.

The Lord isn't against organized religion; He followed the Mosaic Law to the letter and preached in the temples. The church was not behind the murder of Jesus; only the one apostle, Judas.

His Church has been restored again to the world. If you would like to know more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints simply log on to www.mormon.org.

To gather with other believers is for community not a neccessity for practice.

Furthermore, Jesus also taught meditation or prayer whilst alone. He taught to look inward, into yourself and find the light within.

The organization of Church is man made.
And unfortunately, just like governments, corporations etc.... it is doomed to be corrupt.

Because wherever one man can obtain power over another, or at least the illusion of power, the greedy will seek position.

Take Communist China for instance:

The capture the Panchen lLama and his entire family.
Then, appoint their own and declare him the spiritual leader.
Government knows that in order to control the people, you have to take away their willingness to fight and guide them spiritually the way you want.

As most people today take their religion like they do their DRIVE THROUGH fast food, it's working out pretty good.
No one wants to invest the time and energy into self examination.

So, it's off to church to get my Jesus on and then drive through Wendy's to feed the family and then back home to microwave some popcorn and watch a movie on pay-per-view.

Sad really...... but that is the ugliness of man.

It wasn't the institution He was against. The religious leaders were NOT doing as they were supposed to be doing.
True, I do not believe there should be "organized religion" (denominations) but they do exist to work in cooperation. Sad they are divided by slight differences in doctrines.

You heard wrong!

The Bible says to gather with other believers.

The ones who killed Jesus did NOT believe He was God's son.
