Hey, everyone. I'm fourteen years old, and no matter how hard I've tried over the years, I just can't get the hang of tying my shoes. I don't get it - it's not like I'm stupid, I'm an A student, yet I can't do something as simple as tie my shoes. This is an issue I'd like to address so I can personally, you know, tie my own shoes and not worry about it all day when they come untied, or having to do some weird "tuck them in" trick at the bowling ally. Please, if you have any advice on how to teach an older dog a young dog's trick, please help.

I'm sorry, but I just had to laugh when I saw this question.

Anyways, you could try taking one lace, make it into a loop, take the other lace, wrap it around, and then pull it together. This is the loop, swoop and pull method.

Or you could try making bunny ears with both laces, and pull one bunny ear through the hole in the middle of the two bunny ears. This is the bunny ears method.

I hope I made sense, if not you might want to try some of the websites that have been suggested here.

this isn't any massive deal. Many 5-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-olds can no longer tie shoelaces yet (no longer because of the fact they are no longer getting the thought yet because of the fact they have not yet stepped forward the mandatory effective motor skills). As a prevalent-grade instructor, I had many six- and 7-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous scholars who hadn't discovered yet. the answer is basic: purchase him velcro closure shoes now and allow him learn while he's waiting. No fuss, and he won't be tripping over those trailing laces or dealing with pointless embarrassment from the tension you're putting on him. i could additionally project to wager which you have no longer talked approximately "most of the youngsters in his classification" tying their own shoes. lots of them may well be tied, with a double-knot so they do no longer come untied, by using the mothers and fathers interior the morning, in the different case maximum young ones are no longer ashamed to ask the instructor or lecture room aide or yet another pupil for help.

Okay take an end of the lace in each hand. make an x and loop one under the other. then you should have a smallish knot and then you take each end again and just make a loop with each of them. then cross the loops and put on under the other and pull. that should work otherwise look it up on google or something.

It`s ok. You`ve gotten some great answers and I just wanted to tell you that my daughter has the same problem with her motor control when it comes to tying her shoes and we get velcro for her or a slip on. Some kids just have trouble with it.
