dana...my goodness... now the left is pretending that there is no political agenda behind the "science" of global warming? Please don't insult my intelligence with such nonsense.

Whether the Earth is Round, or Goes Around the Sun, should not have been political issues, or theological ones, but they were.

The problem is, those who scream for action don't seem to understand that development is the only way for those who are most at risk to future catastrophes to be able to avoid the most severe consequences.

The Environuts (and no, not all AGW Advocates are Environuts, but most Environuts are AGW Advocates) want to stifle development and insure the deaths of billions so as to no longer "stress" mother earth. They succeeded by making scientifically untenable attacks on DDT (No, it doesn't cause egg shell thinning, NO it doesn't hurt people or cause cancer or health problems, YES it kills mosquitoes). Now, using simillarly shrill tones and shoddy science, they are trying to attack the "Millitary Industrial Complex" and bring it to it's knees.

If AGW is true (and if it is, they've shouted for the last 10 years it's unavoidable), then we'll NEED the Millitary Industrial Complex for Disaster Relief, Population Relocation, Maintaining Order, and Food Redistribution. Those of us with money will be able to adapt. Those who live in the poor, undeveloped world - they'll die.

Vive' Development!

A. Many on the right believe in global warming.

B. Global warming as a field of environmental concern existed long before the current crop of Authoritarian Liberals decided to use it as a political stepping stone in the same way as the Authoritarian Conservatives have used the threat of terrorism for the past 7 years.

C. Just because a political party you don't agree with believes something, does not mean that it's not a problem.

D. Global warming isn't the only environmental problem in the world. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Just because the left believes in global warming, don't purposely turn away from environmental awareness all together.

Is this something we know, or is it an assumption? I mean has someone taken a poll that showed this to be as you say?

I'm certainly no left winger, but the opposition to action reminds me of the opposition to evolution in the South during the 1920's. I would think that the survival of life on earth would be a bipartisan issue. If it isn't, could you show us the data?

How about we all go back to living in caves? That way you could pick up a rock and run after your food. After all thats how we started. To be serious, what will be accomplished if we stop our industries? No jobs,no transportation,no supermarket to get your foodand drink. Just what is the left looking for? Besides you cant stop volcanoes etc.

Global warming sn't a political issue subject to debate. It is a proven scientific fact. And so, people who want to sound off that they don't "believe in global warming" are going to be ridiculed--just as they would be if they claimed that the existance of bacteria and viruses was "just a political ploy" and that diseases ere really caused by evil spirits.

Tolerance and diversity as long as you are tolerant and diverse in the way they approve. Remember there is a right way and a wrong way to be tolerant.

Remember there are those who think people who don't accept their idea of so called man made "Global warming" should be put in jail.

The left? And alter, tsk tsk. You do not have any scientific evidence so yo try to diminish the other side. Why not meet the evidence instead of this garbage? Is it mildly amusing, but that's all.

Please leave your stupid comments about "the left" in the politics section. This is the environment section - we discuss the environment and the science about it here.

If you'd like to discuss the science behind global warming, feel free. If you're just going to spout off about your political prejudices, it doesn't belong in the environment section.
