Here's a poem I wrote about how it feels to have depression. Just thought I'd share.

Depression is my shadow
It wants to stay

I want to speak
But the words don't come out

I try to smile
But my face remains stiff

I want to go out
But I feel so tired

I see the sun
But it is scared of me

It starts to rain
But I don't feel wet

I see people smiling
I run away scared

I feel so negative
I don't understand positive

I'm misunderstood
It seems no one is caring

I feel so alone
There's no one around me

The world keeps on spinning
Yet I sit still

A thunderstorm in my head
Constant thunder and lightning

I want to escape
But there's no easy way out

No concept of time
It seems so surreal

I feel so invisible
That I don't exist

I feel so empty
I'm emotionless

I want to die
But it seems too easy

I want to see light
But all I see is darkness

I try to let go
It just keeps on pulling

Depression is my shadow
It wants to stay…

Don't worry, I've already seeked help. It's good to put these feelings to words. I want to help others who may be going through depression once I get over this.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

I am really proud of you !!! I am glad you have seeked help and hope you continue and maybe use medication.
It took strength on your part to share this poem. I sure understand depression. I lost my husband not long ago, and so hard to deal with, I have been on meds and will be for awhile, To have the will to help others is so special.
Many do after they have suffered what others may, that is great because you will connect to their problems.
Keep up the good work and you will be able to help.

Good poem, but I think you might be depressed and thats why you wrote it! Depression isn't good or healthy, but it is good to let out your feelings. The part about were you want to die is where I think you should get help, talk to a doctor or a counsler NOW! This could get serious-- if you are depressed and if you say you want to die, you may commit suiside! Get help! This is VERY SERIOUS!

You inspired me to write this poem just now.

WHY

I fell down the stairs and sprained my knee,
Why did this happen? Oh woe is me.

The door hit me hard right smack in the eye.
Why did this happen? Why, oh why?

Traffic was horrid and now I am late.
Why did this happen? Oh, cruel fate.

People and things make my life a pain.
Why does this happen, again and again?

Very sad and macabre. I also have chronic depression, so I know how you feel. It's good, though. No worries!

Good poem, and they say that using your pain is the best way to express yourself creatively.
