Yes, of course it says that in Christianity. Whether or not it says it in the Bible is another question. While the Bible never says "Pope," it does give Peter authority (Jesus gives Peter the keys of the kingdom) and it does say that "they [the Church] may be one." The Pope is the symbol of that unity in Christianity, and, for about 15 centuries, Christianity was One, until the reformation took place. Still, the Church is One Body, with the Pope as its visible head on earth, and Jesus as its divine head and mediator. All who have turned from the Church have denied Jesus' desire that "all may be one" and have caused scandal by allowing Christianity to become divided.
So why must we have a Pope? Because, like other denominations and religions, the Church would crumble, and people would believe whatever they wanted to believe without firm foundation, without the rock on which the Church was built... As it is, the Church is one in what it teaches, what we believe, what (or Who) we receive, and in how we worship. It is truly Catholic, meaning Universal.
Imagine how much easier it would be dealing with Muslims if they simply had a leader that represented the whole, and who had the authority to stop this chaos in the Middle East...

No in fact Peter would be shocked to know he was voted the first "Pope".
Pope means papa or father.. In Math is says, concerning spiritual leaders to call no one "father".
Mat 23: 9And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
Peter had just confessed he thought Jesus was the Christ. And Jesus responded -Peter you are a small rock and on THIS I will build my church. This = Jesus the Christ! Jesus saved us not Peter.
Jesus hated traditions of man over scripture IE Pharisees.

No pope in the Bible although many will try to say there is........ the whole idea is based on a mistranslation. The argument for this would take way too much space so this article puts it as clearly as I could find it on short notice. Hope it helps :-D

The pope is only a bishop. He's just the "head bishop." The leader, father, papa (hence pope) whatever title you wish to call him. He is only a bishop. The bishop is technically the highest rank you can get. Cardinals are bishops, just with more responsibilities. The pope is a bishop, just with even MORE responsibilities.
God bless,
=)

The Bible says nothing about needing a Pope. It does say:
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Jhn 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Christians don't need a man to talk to God for them. We can go right to God. What kind of relationship requires someone to stand between the two people to pass messages back and forth?!?

No. The support for a pope in Catholicism comes from tradition, not the Bible. However, tradition is as valuable an authority as the Bible is in that faith.

Absolutely NOT.....
No mention of a pope anywhere in Scripture
Catholics will try to tell you that Jesus commissioned Peter to be the first one but......that's not what was implied when Jesus called Peter "petras".....or small stone.
Edit:
See Jeanmarie's answer.....it explains it in better detail

NO , even though GODS' message is clear and natural for us to follow, Man has created his own doctrine for self worship.
another question should be ''HOW did Rome become the Holy Land''?
