I just bought a 57" 1080p DLP TV and upgraded to HDTV through Directv. Obviously I want the absolute best picture I can get out of my investment. Do I need to get a Category 2 HDMI cable? The HDMI cable I use now (that came with the Directv box) is 4' long.

I think you will want to use a set of component cables set to output 1080i, since you source material for DirecTV is mostly in 1080i. I would use your HDMI for a blue ray or other 1080p source.

I have found that for the best quality picture on my TV, with DirecTV, is the HDMI cable from Monster Cable (sorry, I forgot the Category), but I know that it cost me about $120...I originally purchased the mid-level one for about $60 and then changed it over when I went to my friends house (he has the highest quality cable) and immediately noticed a difference..

According to specs, Catagory 1 HDMI 1.3 cable can easily be manufactured up to 5 meters (approx 16 feet). I would think any HDMI 1.3 cable should be fine as it meets all the current specs and would be compatible with what you currently own. Buying catagory 2 cable might be a bit of overkill right now.
