No, it is a normal rite of passage....

It only becomes wrong if it manipulates your time, your life, etc...only wrong if you over indulge.

The whole basis of masterbation being wrong is ONE story in the bible. A man is told he must marry his dead brothers wife and make children with her.

But when he is about to impregnate her, he pulls out because he feels guilty doing it ,and spills his seed on the ground. God gets angry.

Theologians then deduced that this means God was mad because the only place a man's seed can go is in a woman. Add that to the only sex being allowed is if married and only to make children, and you get the notion that masterbation is a sin.

However, anyone who reads that story knows that God was mad because the brother didnt impregnate the wife, and spilled his seed on the ground. So God was made because the deed wasnt done, not because the wasted seed.
So like most christianity, we now have this as a major belief because of someone wrong interpretation a long time ago.

For instance, all the right wing christians and politicans are going nuts over gay marriage, but it is hardly mentioned in the bible. However, cheating on your wife is all over the bible. Have they done anything to combat that? Or try to make divorces illegal? Or cheating on your spouse illegal? NO!

Whether it is christian like makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Masturbation is a fact of life and there is nothing sinful about it. As for the male, they all do it; gay, straight, married, single, young, old. Any guy who tells you that he has never masturbated is either lying or there is something wrong with him.

My suggestion to you is that you stop thumping that bible and start trying to find out some things about the ways of the world. One of the best places to start is the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia.

The Bible is silent on masturbation, except for the sin of Onan in Genesis, which was a way of avoiding his duty to bring forth children for his brother.

I can tell you the Catholic church is against it, but if you're not Catholic...

If you masturbate too much to the point where it's all you think about, it can be a sin. You're worshipping your genital area!

But in itself, masturbation is not a sin. If you masturbate when you're married, it's probably adultry if you're masturbating on the fantasy of another woman. Same if you're dating. But I think it's fine if you're fantacizing the one you love.

But masturbation in itself is not, in a Christian perspective, a sin. For anybody Christian or non! You just shouldn't obsess on it.

Too much of it is no matter what religion you are. It can reflect low self-image. Every once in a while just to relieve stress but don't make it a hobby because it could replace the real thing which is better if you have the right partner. Get out there and live.

Disillusioned, LMAO!!! That's cold!

In most Chrisatian denonminations it is considered either borderline or extremely sinful because it brings a sexual pleasure without procreation.
In human nature, it is considered quite normal.

Any self indulgent action is sinful. If you are a Christian, spend your energy giving yourself away instead of serving yourself.

It really depends on who you ask. Some people see it as a God given form of release. Some others I have talked to see it as self abuse. If you are not in a relationship and you are not using it as a substitute for being with your partner, then I don't think it's a very big deal......unless you are doing it in public or something.
