To guilt trip you into the cult. Just another tactic to get more people to join their cult.

Really? That's all you have ever done? Ever told a lie, no matter how small or for what reason? You've already admitted to stealing, never stolen anything else? No matter what the value is. Have you always honored your mother and father? You have heard it said before thou shalt not commit murder, but Jesus said whosoever has unjust anger towards another has committed murder already in their hearts, ever hated anyone? You have also heard it said before thou shalt not commit adultery, but Jesus said whosoever looks at another with lust has committed adultery with them already in there heart? Ever done that? Have you ever coveted what others have? And these are just a few of the Ten Commandments. Now look back and think about not only committing these sins, but how many times over your lifetime you have committed them...still think the only crime you committed was stealing a few sweets? My guess is if you took an honest look at your life as any of us would you would see that maybe you are not as good as you claim your self to be. Now you could also do what others will do when faced with the convictions of your sins and begin to justify and excuse them, but it doesn't really work does it? Break the law, go to court and see if a Judge will dismiss the charges for whatever justification or reasoning you can come up with.

Imagine someone you love was hit by a drunk driver and killed. The person stood before a judge and said your honor, alls I did was a few little drinks, I didn't see the person, it was an accident, I am really a good person, I will never do it again, don't you think finding me guilty and sentencing me is a little harsh? Now if the judge said, "Hey you're right, case dismissed." Would you consider that person to be a good judge? If logically you conclude the answer to be no then how could you expect any less from God on the day of judgment when you have to answer for the things you did while you were alive? Imagine the people you have wronged physically or emotionally. Imagine the people who have wronged you either physically or emotionally. Still think you are a good person? If you do then I guess you have nothing to fear right?

I am not going to go over why Jesus died for our sins since many people will probably go through that in their answers to your question. What you need to understand is how you have sinned and the sins you have committed.

Here are some men and women who mocked God:

JOHN LENNON:
Some years before during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
"Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple. Today we are more famous than Him." (1966)
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

TANCREDO NEVES (President of Brazil):
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

CAZUZA (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During a show in Canecão ( Rio de Janeiro ), whilst smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: "God, that's for You."
He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.

THE MAN WHO BUILT TITANIC:
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: "Not even God can sink it."
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.

MARILYN MONROE:
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He is a preacher and Evangelist and the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: "I don't need your Jesus.
A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.

BON SCOTT:
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
"Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, wow the highway to hell.
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his vomit.

CAMPINAS/SP IN 2005
In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter - holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: "MY DAUGHTER, GO WITH GOD AND MAY HE PROTECT YOU."
She responded: ONLY IF HE (GOD) TRAVELS IN THE BOOT(trunk), COZ INSIDE HERE IT'S ALREADY FULL."
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the boot was intact. The police said there was no way the boot could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the boot was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive. JESUS!

Well, one of the Ten Commandments is, "Thou shalt not steal". He died for this and all other sins because it was becoming more and more evident that the blood of an animal sacrifice wasn't going to cut it anymore, for there was no free will where the animal was concerned. The animal, though without spot or blemish, couldn't go WILLINGLY to it's death on our behalf, for sin was getting worse and worse. Since man only had to bury his sin under that sacrifice ONCE a year, he felt as long as he lived until the next Passover, he could get forgiveness again. Now, since Jesus resides in all those who take on His name through obedience, whenever we sin, we can approach Him directly for forgiveness! But, we cannot use Him as a crutch as people did back then, for after a while, God will begin to see the lack of sincerity in such a commitment and begin to gradually separate Himself from such individuals. It doesn't mean He TOTALLY gives up on them, but it becomes harder and harder for that person to regain that salvation!

He did die for our sins. It's not just "what people say", the Bible tells us that. Where else do you think we got it from?
Also, a sin is a sin. You know what would be even harsher? If Jesus hadn't died for our sins, and you would just go to hell with no way out for just "stealing a few sweets"
God made a way for us OUT OF OUR SINS, because of His MERCY AND GRACE. I think that's pretty wonderful of Him.

That is the whole idea of Christianity is based on. They inserted Jesus into Judaism and created a new religion. Most Christians saying that do not know what they are talking about. It is God who demanded Jesus to die, as a human sacrifice, to atone Adam and Eve's stealing of an apple. God could have forgiven Adam and Eve out right. But no, he wanted to see blood first.

Anyway, Jesus is god. He did not really die. He slept two nights and one day, and then got up.

He did die for the sins of the world. We are the world. If you read the Bible in the old testament they sacrificed animals for forgiveness of sin. The scacrifices were to be with out spot or blemish in other words perfect. When God seen that there was no one perfect for the scarifice to redeem the world He sent Jesus his son who was with out spot or blemish to die for the sins of the world. He had to be sacrifice to do away with the law of scarificing animals threrefor reconciling us back to God so God could have a relationship with his creation once again

Jesus did not die for anyone's sins he was a prophet of god we are all responsible individually for our sins and either have to atone for them here or in the hereafter. Why would Jesus die to absolve the rest of humanity of their sin thats a cop out if I ever heard one. The other argument you sometimes hear is that Jesus died to absolve humanity of original sin which of course dates back to Adam and Eve and their eating of the forbidden fruit in disobedience to God which is also nonsensical because any original sin Adam and Eve may have committed is a sin for them and does not pass unto the rest of humanity as a prerequisite because sin is not genetic. Jesus died trying to show the world a better way to live and perhaps his death was necessary so that people would always remember that Jesus tried to teach love and compassion to humanity.

Actually, that's what HE said.

Section 601 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

The Scriptures had foretold this divine plan of salvation through the putting to death of "the righteous one, my Servant" as a mystery of universal redemption, that is, as the ransom that would free men from the slavery of sin. Citing a confession of faith that he himself had "received," St. Paul professes that "Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures." In particular Jesus' redemptive death fulfills Isaiah's prophecy of the suffering Servant. Indeed Jesus himself explained the meaning of his life and death in the light of God's suffering Servant. After his Resurrection he gave this interpretation of the Scriptures to the disciples at Emmaus, and then to the apostles.

Good question. Particularly since he could have no idea of what our "sins" are. I'm not going to pay off a bet on the '08 Super Bowl before I know who's playing and what the final score is.
