Calories! Cutting carbs alone does NOT mean you will lose weight.

People who believe this myth won't touch a potato (100 calories, 0g fat), but then proceed to eat a 6 oz steak for dinner (565 calories, 44g fat). They’ll refuse a hamburger bun (120 calories, 2g fat) but take an extra meat patty to make up for it (250 calories, 15g fat).

The short of it: The calorie counts say it all – a 500-calorie steak will make you gain more weight than a 100-calorie potato. Simple. It’s the calories that make the difference to your waistline, not the carbs.

Cutting out carbohydrates can also mean missing out on vital nutrients from healthy carbohydrate foods which should be part of any well-balanced diet, especially those from fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

If you’re considering a low-carb diet for weight loss, remember to count your calories and make sure you get enough nutrients for health needs - including carbohydrates. 40-60 percent of your dailiy calorie intake should come from carbohydrates.

Both if you eat 1500 calories which is perfect for someone 5'4" that wants to weigh 125 pounds. If it is all carohydrates you won't lose weight and you will be hungry all the time.
Eat mostly protein like beans, meat, cheese and egg on whole wheat toast. A donut for breakfast of the same calories will add pounds. Don't know why but a calorie is not a calorie. Ice cream, pizza, bread, potato, corn all pack it on.
Eat meat, salad, cooked vegetables, fruit. These things help you to lose weigh. Just by saying I am not eating junk food most people can lose weight.
That means no cookies, chips, soda pop, bagels, munchies of any kind. Eat an apple.
A chocolate freak, get the coating with no sugar and dip your strawberries in chocolate or cool whip. That is desert.
No cake, pie or rolls. If it contains grain even whole grain don't eat it.

calories. I don't eliminate any good foods from my diet, and complex carbs are very healthy foods. The one thing I watch carefuly is sugar based products. It's sugar. more than fat, that packs on the pounds... and there is a lot of hidden sugar in foods. Just read labels. It's amazing!!

Personally, I pay attention to fat and calories. (and calories from fat).
I don't eat a lot of processed foods, so this actually doesn't come before me a lot, but when I do buy boxed goods, I will check the label and make sure that the calorie count and fat content are not too high.

of course you eat fruit, yogurt, and vegetables on a diet, they help you lose weight, the high in calorie and carb junk that is in the stores, isnt good for you, so fruit, yogurt, veggies, wheat bread, anything healthy will help you.
