My headunit is Kenwood 22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels. Im currently looking at 4 different 6x9 speakers to replace my blown rear 6x9's. Here they are:

Infinity Kappa 2 way
2-110 watts RMS (330 watts peak power)
2-ohm impedance
frequency response: 35-25,000 Hz

Infinity Kappa 3 way
2-110 watts RMS (330 watts peak power)
2-ohm impedance
frequency response: 35-25,000 Hz

Alpine Type R 2Way 6x9
2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
4 ohm impedence
frequency response: 60-27,000 Hz

Polk Audio db690 3way 6x9
10-100 watts RMS (300 Peak)
frequency response: 35-22,000 Hz
4 ohm impedence

Im trying to learn about car audio and I understand most of the values like RMS and the frequency but I dont quite understand what OHM is and how to interpret whether I nee 2 or 4. I was also told that speakers that are 2ohm would require me to buy an additional amp to power them is this true?

What I wanted to know was which would bet suit my head unit. and which wont. Thanks

4 Ohm speakers are the easiest to install and are the most convenient when hooking it up to the Head Unit. 2 Ohm, speakers will require an amplifier because the HU will not be able to power the speakers because HU's are rated at 4 Oms through high level outputs instead of low level outputs(RCA's), the resistance will strain the HU into a meltdown of you audio output. I hope this helps.

Kenwood head units are useally only 4 ohm head units. So to run the 2 ohm speakers, you'd have to have a 2ohm amp.

If you try to hook up the 2 ohm 6x9s to your kenwood headunit, it will blow the head unit and possibly the speakers.
So, those are ruled out unless you want to get an amp.

now, as for your other two choices, the human ear only hears between 20 hz and 20k hz. SO, anything above 20,000 is pointless.

It really depends on your complete setup, if you are just replacing speakers and you do not have any subwoofers or anything, I'd grab the Polk audios. Just because they are three way, 6x9's are normally in the rear so you'll appreciate that more. Threeway means the speaker is projected three ways, it should be more clear to the ear. On top of that, the Freq is 35hz, as opposed to the alpines 60hz. Not that you will notice that much (if any) unless your an audio head, but the polks are going to play lower bass than the Alpines. Since you do not have any subwoofers, you may appreciate this more, besides all that, I do not like Alpine. :)

Infinity is one of my favorite 6x9 makers, I'd definitly go that route if you can, but an amp is a lot of extra work.

Your head unit is designed to be used with 4-ohm speakers; it's not compatible with 2-ohm systems. The Infinity speakers are made to be used with an amplifier.

Between the Alpine and the Polk, go with whichever sounds better to you. You can't choose between two speakers based on frequency response specs, because different companies use different methods of rating the response (and frequency response isn't really an indicator of how good a speaker sounds anyway).

the infinity 2way or 3way are the best on the market they will give you the best sound but the quality of your sound comes from your cd player. But i would personally go with the infinity 6x9 they are allittle more salty but you will love the quality and sound you get out of them. plus they will last you for along time prolly long after you upgrade to new deck. But you are going to need to find them in 4ohm your deck isn't made to handle 2ohm load speakers you would probably want to get an amp for them. Good Luck

For feeding track to the audio gadget, comparable stuff. for paying for means to the amps, must be plenty greater because of the fact of decrease voltage. And before you waste a great number of money blowing out your ears, making it annoying to concentration on site visitors, and disturbing the heck out of your friends, why not basically placed on earphones particularly of coming up a wheeled boost container?
