are you talking about "scotchguard" ? It can be applied to furniture and carpets to prevent spilled liquids from soaking into the fabric

I just purchased leather furniture and the protection plan. The plan covers stains from food, liquids, ink, etc. Also covers if the leather gets torn or ripped. Came with a leather care kit and the furniture came pre-treated to prevent stains. You would need to ask the furniture sales person what the protection plan was. It could be something like what I got or it could just mean they would stain treat it. Not sure how it is done exactly. I was told by the salesperson at Rooms Today that "scotchguarding" isn't done anymore. The process included chemicals that caused allergic reactions to people and pets. Not sure if that is true or not.

If all they offer is an applied treatment like Scotchguard, save your money. The first time you have your fabrics cleaned, the Scotchguard will be gone leaving you to re-apply. But if the protection is injected into the fabric, it will save you many headaches and money later.
