Richard Winters is the man who served in WWII in the Airborne (you would know if you saw Band of Brothers), but i want to try and do something and see if i can set up something to try and meet him?Does any one know what i could do to try and contact him or something so i could try and meet him? ( I Want to meet the real guy, not the actor who played him in the movies). And on his web site i cant E-mail him it says there no longer ecepting E-mails? So any other suggstions would be nice. Thank you so much for any answers.

Mr. Winters is a local for me. He usually does an appearance once per year on memorial day with a local radio station.

WHP 580-AM
He missed last years appearance because of health problems. Perhaps you could e-mail the program director at the radio station and see if Mr. Winters plans to continue doing personal appearances.

If you are looking for more "personal" reports about WWII try the book "You can't get much closer than this" It is based on a diary by A. Adkins. H/2/317 80th Division. I bought it as my Father was in Hq/2/317 and they chewed the exact same ground.

At 89 Mr. Winters may not be in the best of health.

See if Stephen Ambrose the author of the book can act as a go between.

Sounds to me like Mr Winters wants to be left alone. He's 89 years old...
