You should try waiting until you can think of an idea on your own. Tattoos are for life. getting one based on what a bunch of strangers on the internet say, probably isnt the best idea.

My dear,

With all due respect, this is the worst question i have ever answered. Tattoos are the most personal of things, specially because the whole world will see it and you don't want to put something on your body that means nothing to you......I live in Miami, you have no idea how many people I see in the beach crossing each other with the same butterfly, black panther, tribal, etc......I have one, very personal one which I wrote, translated and made the first line at the tattoo shop when I got it done. Please don't walk in an choose from a book or a website......do your research, find your own design, change it, move it, make it your own.....find meaning to you. There is no race, or price....take your time and everytime somebody ask you what "that" is, there is a true, original, and personal answer.

I have 7 tattoos now and I am working on my next one now. The best advice I can give you is: get whatever you want that "speaks" to you. You want to get something that you love and expresses who you are as a person. Do some research, you have two years still. Figure out what style you like, and what colors you like.
DO NOT just go to a shop and pick flash art off the wall. You will hate it over time. Find someone who can draw something up for you. It costs more, but think of it as a piece of art. Which it is. The web is full of info on tattoos. This way you'll get a good idea of what's out there.
Good luck, and don't rush your decision

You deffinately need to get something you will still like in years to come. I got a tatoo when I was 17 (with my mom there) and I still love it. I did alot of thinking and made sure it wasnt something that will be out of style or I wasnt into anymore. Thinkin of where is just as important. Sounds like its going to be in a spot where you can show or hide it...so thats good. Im glad I thought good about what I wanted cuz the first thing I was going to get I wouldve hated it right now. I think butterflies would be nice....

#1 - Don't be in a rush. Take your time to decide if you want a tattoo, it will be there for life or until you spend a sickening amount of money to remove it. I mean take a couple of years to decide.

#2 - Choose a design that will have lasting meaning to you. A passing fad cannot be changed. Be sure it is something you want to see daily for the rest of your life.

#3 - This is the MOST IMPORTANT TATTOO ADVICE YOU WILL EVER GET.

NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!!! NEVER, EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATEVER TATTOO ANOTHER PERSON'S NAME ON YOUR BODY!!!!!!! The sole exceptions MIGHT be to tattoo MOM or DAD on yourself. Otherwise putting another person's name on your skin is simply inviting an end to the relationship.

I've seen too many folks having to explain one or more names on their arms to girls they wanted to start dating.

Fads come and fads go, but tattoos live on and on. Tattoo removal is the most popular plastic surgery being performed even today.

If you must, what about a toilet with money dropping into it? Almost any other expensive useless item that you buy could at least be sold so you'd get some of the money back.
