I'm not atheist, but I'll take a crack at this one.
Evolution has no designs, no plans, no over-arching set of blueprints for life.
Evolution is a process, not a plotter.
Evolution occurs as a result of climate, ecology, and events.
In other words, things happen that are the cause. Evolution is the effect.
You understand cause and effect, yes?
Evolution is simply the adaptation of life to best fit with ongoing ecological changes around us.
Perhaps this is why Christians have such a hard time with this... they can't get past the fact that there is no grand design in which they are involved.
Ego.

Atheist and evolutionist are full of dodo. You can't answer the question with respect because your Godless existence is a crock and the '\"evolution is a process" quip, is b.s. You atheist know you're gonna burn and you evolutionist know a blind process that just fosters survival and procreation could never bring about a moon that cleans the ocean, evaporation that cycles the water to the lands and returns them again by rivers and streams. What process that only perpetuates basic survival and procreation would bring about brown, blue, green, gray and black irises. How about the giraffe's neck. Micro evolution is all there is there is no Macro evolution whereby one species becomes another species. The Creator created the earth and all that's in it, men build with the things God has made. Atheist Wise up because the game you're playing is for keeps. Evolutionist, who made the land and the sea and the space? God said from dust thou art and to dust thou shall return, that's true all over the globe. And these fossils you think are million of years old wouldn't be there unless the carcass is kept away from oxygen. The world wide flood preserved 99% of the fossils that are found because they were instantly buried under earth and sediment that was stirred up and layered back down. There are no blind watchmakers. There is a purpose to life, death was passed on through Adam. Jesus is called the last Adam because through him life is passed on he is my redeemer he brought back me who was lost, who was born with a nature that refused rule by my creator. I had to come to accept that I was a rebel and I had to lay down my will and learn about Jesus and I understand that he is wiser than me and he is patient and kind and was willing to give his life so that my debt to the law was paid. I'll Praise Jesus forever! Evolution is a cottage industry. Did God say he created the heavens, earth and every living creature? Then read about the science that supports a young earth. It isn't taught in schools but it is available.

Evolution is a process by which life forms change over time. The process has no purpose in and of itself. It cannot and does not "chose" as we chose one pair of shoes to wear in the morning or when we chose chocolate rather than vanilla ice cream. You would need to study evolutionary theory to understand by what means a species changes over time to become different than its ancestors. The short answer is that some event (such as cosmic rays or errors in the genes) cause an animal's genes to be different than its parent, sometimes this change turns out to be beneficial to the animal and it survives over its cousins to produce offspring that have the changed genes.

Evolution didn't choose me. The species I belong to is here as a result of evolution. And I am here as the result of sheer chance among the possible mating combinations between humans multiplied by the number of competing sperm and eggs that males and females produce during the fertile period of their life span.

I'm here because I'm here - my purpose is of my own choosing. I believe I'm here to perform "shakubuku" - to "instill doubt" and get people to ask WHY they believe what they believe. My greater purpose is to insure the long-term survival of the human race by promoting space colonization. As a geologist, I know that it is only a matter of time before there is another mass extinction of life on Earth. Our chances of survival are greatly increased if we inhabit other planets. I regard irrational religious beliefs as "toxic memes" that have - and continue to - threaten our specie's existence and impede our progress.

Evolution is a scientific process. It doesn't 'choose' anything. I live for life itself, for my family and friends and to make the world a better place. I don't need someone to tell me what my purpose is. I'm quite capable of deciding that for myself.

Its not capable of choosing, it just happens. That's like asking why water chose to exist on earth. We make our own purpose if we choose. We can squabble over petty things our entire lives or we can choose to see how far we can advance ourselves. We can destroy ourselves or we can become something above evolution.

Aside from arguing semantics, I will simply say that life exists predominantly due to our good fortune, and that our individual purpose is to be individually defined. Our overall purpose, biologically, is simply to reproduce and remain in existence as long as possible, ideally improving through generations, and perhaps attempting to attain some unknown end of evolution. We exist spiritually to experience living, die, and return to nothingness deserving of that ideal, non-physical state due to having known the joys and suffering of our improbable world.

The scientific theory of evolution has nothing to do with the purpose of life.
Scientific theories explains scientific facts using the scientific method. Purpose is not a scientific theory.

As badly worded as your question is, I think I understand what you are asking. Evolution is a process...not a god or being. Evolution doesn't put people on earth or do anything but evolve life.
