We are having black and white at our party, but I want an accent color for a splash of color for flowers, the ribbons for our favor boxes, etc. I definitely dont want red or tiffany blue. I was thinking fuscia, but am not so sure now. Our favor boxes are black, what color ribbon do you think would really POP against a black box?
PS Its a Dec party, so no lavander or summery colors.

Its actually for our 10th anniversary party. We had a small wedding so for our 10th we are throwing the reception we would have liked to have had back then. Our wedding colors were burgandy and Ivory so I would rather not do reds again.

First thing that came to mind to me is hot pink/fuschia- i think that would look really nice.

I think the fuscia would be lovely. It would definitely add a punch to your scheme.

Other colors to consider:
A royal blue
A royal purple or plum
Icy blue
Chartreuse or lime green

Any of these would be lovely without being trendy or evoking any holiday theme (ie: Orange and black= Halloween, Red= Christmas, etc). And they stay away from the pastels.
But don't doubt your instinct. Fuscia would be beautiful and modern.

If your living room is primarily used for socializing then it is best to use those colors schemes which would make you feel relaxed in the room. You can create a peaceful and relaxing environment by using light green or blue shades on the walls. You can also use wallpaper instead of paint on the walls as they give a softer and a homely effect. If you are not sure of what paint should be used for ceiling then it’s better to use white color. It is safe and can always paint another color later if you want to change. Place accessories of white or red color in the room. Keep in mind not to over saturate the living room with colorful accessories as they can offset the green and blue color schemes.

You said you don't want "red" but have you considered darker shades of wine, apple, burgandy, etc.?

A deep (not too dark) hunter green could be really nice too.

For a different look, you could try a frosted blue, that would play up your winter wedding, but you'll have to be careful not to stray too far into pastel blues or you'll just look like you don't know anything about summer vs winter colors.

I think I'd go with the burgundy myself, but since you said no red, those are my other thoughts.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

fuscia will look awesome. I just went to a wedding that was black and white with hot pink accents. It was very classy, yet the the little details such as ribbon and flowers in pink were gorgeous.

I recently went to a black and white wedding and she used all different shades of yellow. Against the black this was beautiful. The shades varied depending on the size of the item. Flowers, she had a stronger yellow and larger items she had a softer yellow. It was breathtaking, especially when all the lights came on at night.

First question...is the wedding formal??? I went to a wedding where the bridesmaids wore black dresses carried white calalillies & orchids and an accent color of gold was used. It was pretty but for me there was no real "color" persay. I like where you are headed with the fushia, I personally used pinks. For my bouquet primarily white with pale pink peonies. Then my bridesmaids had these gorgeous deep hot pink peonies in their bouquets with lime green colored orchids. I definately recommend using a vibrant rich color as a contrast. I took a color like chocolate brown (my bridesmaids gowns) & contrasted with the deep pinks & lime greens. It was absolutely amazing. Best Wishes

My favorite would be some shade of pink. You could do anything from pastel to deep/fuchsia without it seeming too summer-y since you have the black going on.

For a more formal look you could do silver or gold.

Icy blue and silver might look neat too :)

Have fun and CONGRATS!!!! 10 years is a huge accomplishment- we just celebrated ours in May :)

How about a teal color, like Davids Bridals color Pool. I think it would look great and pop out against the black and white.

Ok if you want really elegant you could do Gold , But I Love the colors of black and white, and I think red with the black and white is so overdone, I think you could play it up alot more with a hot pink it adds punch and it's fun, oh and it works!

Fuchsia actually sounds like it'd be a very beautiful accent color! Maybe even peach or turquoise. IMO something too yellow would be too bumblebee-ish and something too orange would be too Halloween-ish. I'd suggest looking at different colors and what you think would look best with your black and white theme.

Good luck!
