Our furniture cost a lot of money £2000 in total as it is real solid pine and treated and stained. It is no cheap tat!

You would need it to be checked by customs and quarantine before it would be allowed in. Australia does not want woodworm, death watch beetle or any nasty wood diseases is doesn't have already. That being said, the probability that you will have any problems is almost nil. The furniture that is almost always stopped from coming in is cane furniture. You can check what is allowed and what isn't at the Customs and Quarantine information page here:

I thought you'd have been here by now.

You can bring anything here but whether you can get it into the country is a different question. The Customs people will not care whether the furniture is worth 50 or 50,000, they see this kind of thing nearly every day and they have heard all the excuses. If it is on one list it goes into the furnace. End of story. If it is on another list it might get treated, which may do nothing at all for the finish. Or it may be that it comes in OK.

Edit - your stuff will probably be OK.

Don't ask us, ask them. Find out exactly what kind of timber it is (not just "pine") and then ask the relevant Australian authorities. Can save you a lot of money, time and distress.

We have enough trouble with rabbits, foxes, cane toads and citrus canker smuggled in a few years ago not to be really careful with this. The guy who smuggled the citrus canker in is basically in hiding overseas. If he came back to this country there are several people who would only be too pleased to take a bullwhip to him. Or an axe.

Why would she want to?Furniture is cheap in Australia and made of local woods and beautiful. All you should really ship, are personal and sentimental items as it is a very expensive process.
Some friends shipped their complete household and ended up having to pay to have some wooden items burnt by the Agricultural/Health people in OZ.

The simple answer is YES

However it will be subject to quarantine and customs inspections. Another factor to consider is if it worth a lot of money as you say they can charge luxuary tax on the item so be prepared for additional costs when it comes time to collect in Australia.

Why on earth would you want to bring pine furniture all the way to Australia?
Pine is cheap junk at the best of times.
We do sell cheap things of that nature over here you know,.
