Ummm ... no?
It really depends on the women and situation, but I get along fine with all my coworkers ...
It would make me think - if this happens "all the time" that there is something about the environment or if they compete with each other that makes this happen. Most of the time, people would rather work on a positive team.
Sorry - I just don't agree with you. I think there is something in the environment (or an individual there.)

I had a siamese (beta) fish and I miss that little mean thing.
I found that when I was in a secretarial pool, there were a lot of spats or gossiping (which leads to spats and problems) but when I began to take on more accounting support jobs, the office drama decreased. Like the other posters said, there is competition amongst people, period. I don't know why because if you do your job as told, your place in a company is much stronger. If someone is always in the middle of ish, then that person is usually the first to go when companies need to trim overhead.

Sounds like they need better management & retraining in what constitutes professional behavior. We have 15 executive assistants in my office - all women - and they get along fine. A few of them have worked together for 20+ years. Really, it's all about learning how to interact with different personality types.
My fiance works in a shop with all guys, and they have many of the problems you're talking about, so it's not just females.
Also, it's the male fighting fish that have issues being together, females get along fine.

Where I work, I've seen personality clashes among both sexes, but the men seem better at getting along with people they don't like. The women sometimes act like they never got of high school - whispering among themselves about their issues rather than confronting problems head-on.

Unfortunately, I have seen this scenario carry out with both genders. Personally, I think it should be mandatory for everyone to take a course in "People Skills" before entering the workforce. Re-enrolment should be mandatory when one's skills start to falter again......

Yes...many of us are catty B's. But there are many of us that also play nice with other women. Not sure why we are so competitive, but it has allot to do with the ole hormones...Sad to say, but I prefer to work with men. They don't hold grudges and aren't nearly as moody.

Girls do not like other girls. Period. Other girls will always try and fight for what others have. Men, clothes, money, attention, ect. It's just the way the world works. =)
