I am an atheist, and I am generally afraid about the afterlife and other things that are there in this infinite universe, which my finite brain has no ability to process and give me an answer.
I am afriad because I understand there is much beyond my understanding.
I know there are people who can be fooled easily in to believing some non-abstract concepts as a barrier to this original problem of finite brain trying to process the infinite universe. There are also retards and other less intellegent people who are not afriad as well because this fear is beyond their comprehention.
Fortunately I am neither a believer nor a retard.
or not having any such ideas at all

Atheists are frighten? Nonsense.
Just because the words "scared" or "afraid" are used, atheists are no more frighten than any other group.
For example, everyone is afraid (scare if you like) of rejection, death, etc. For the Christian, this fear is replaced by hope grounded in faith.
There was a revelation. The atheist understands it but has rejected it. This come down to belief, and no amount of talking will change belief. Jesus when he encountered unbelief (disbelieve) simply walked away.
Answer: Asking questions regarding atheists rather than moving on only shows a lack of focus.

No, because compared to militant/radical members of religions, the "extreme" atheists are quite peaceful and reasonable. I know of no one who has ever been shot or blown up in the name of the idea that no gods exist, whereas both Christians and Muslims have been known to use violence to get their ideas across. The worst an atheist will do is write a book about why religion is dumb. That's not very scary.

The only thing I have seen atheists scared on this site, it was something a fundie said that frightened them, either by it's illogic, it's stupidity, or that people could actually think that way.

I consider myself an atheist and I would say I'm afraid.... of the overwhelming impact that religion has on group mentality that can cause holy wars and prejudice...or that one man, the pope, has so much power and influence and happens to be completely backward when it comes to women's rights....
but...in my everyday life...i believe in being tolerant of everyone and treating other people the way i would like to be treated..and I'm afraid that not enough people think that way.

I'm afraid for all the children who will have their capacity to learn stifled with outdated, bigoted, divisive, ignorant, ill informed religious dribble, when they should be given free access to ALL the mainstream scientific principles and understandings of the natural world.
They may stand on the shoulders of the intellectual giants before them and may achieve great and noble things, or they stand in the shadow of a religious dogma, being trained to conform..

I am afraid of the fact that the large majority of people in this world, including those in positions of power, live their lives and make important decisions based on ideas that have no basis in reality. People relying on their "faith" rather than reason or logic.
Primarily, it scares me that so many religious people are incapable of scientific thought, because it means that we as a country and as a species are going to cease making discoveries required to continue living on this Earth.

I am afraid of being a bad person, or being a bad mother someday, or making the same wrong decisions others have made in my family. I am afraid of ending up alone. That's what I am afraid of.
