It is between a 1st degree and a 2nd degree. I burnt my arm on the inside of the stove door. It's the size of a deck of playing cards. I don't have money or a car so I can't go buy anything. But I need something to help it maybe something that I have here. Does anyone know anything that will work well and not make it hurt worse?

cold water is the best/only first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap and no less. NEVER ice OR vinegar OR milk OR butter OR green tea OR mustard OR toothpaste OR sunscreen OR semen OR vaseline OR tomatoes OR vanilla extract OR yogurt OR sour cream OR egg white OR egg yellow OR lavender oil OR cocoa butter OR salt OR tea bags OR potato OR shaving cream OR olive oil OR baking soda OR banana peel OR petroleum jelly OR whipped cream OR avocado OR bacon grease OR corn starch OR turmeric OR lemon juice OR curd OR pickle juice OR soy sauce OR urine OR talcum powder OR mashed strawberries OR exfoliating scrub OR mayonnaise OR peroxide OR bleach OR deep heat OR ketchup OR red grapes OR hairspray- not until the skin is fully healed!

ibuprofen or aspirin will help but large burns are often accompanied by stomach ulcers, so tylenol/panadol is best for pain if you are gonna tough it out. drink plenty of water or energy drinks that don't have caffeine (gatorade)

i would advise that you cover the burnt area with white soft paraffin (white petroleum) or aqueous cream bp. (check the links below and see if you can find a local equivalent). wash the burn and reapply every 4-6 hours - cover with cling wrap if you wish to cover with clothes - this will stop your clothes getting covered with paraffin and maintains the burn. cling wrap alone is also ok if you can't get hold of any paraffin. it acts as a protective artificial skin - helping retain moisture and protect from further damage and pain.

aloe is good coz it remoisturises but that moisture can be quickly lost as the skin can't contain fluids. so put aloe on, and then the paraffin on over the top. if there is broken skin leave out the aloe - just paraffin.

finally if you are really worried go to a hospital that has a burns unit or plastic surgeons. serious sunburn i.e. blisters (and all other burns) should be seen by a burns trained doctor or nurse.

first off do not use lotion....lotion is a pore blocker and it will keep all the heat inside.

If you just burned yourself run it under cold water for about 5 minutes. Then use some aloe on it. If it is blistered do no use solorcaine or any sort of caine medicine.....These contain a chemical which can actually harm the burn...once it blisters.

Secondly leave it alone. The body does a great job of healing itself when it come to burns or scratches. the only consern is to keep an eye on it. If it is an open wound but an antibiotic cream on it.....and only leave it covered if it is open..

If it is not an open burn.... leave a bandaid off of it....to allow the heat to escape.

Burns (1st and 2nd degree) are very painful and should be cared for. Keep the burned area clean and loosely wrap in sterile gauze. Do not pop any blisters, let them reabsorb. You can put aloe vera on the burned area, but not on the blisters. Watch for signs of infection, such as increased pain, redness, fever, swelling or oozing. If infection develops, seek medical help. Hope this helps.

I know you say that you don't have money or a car, but do you have any vitamin E ointment? This works great on burns, and it takes away the sting immediately. You should always keep this handy. Sorry to hear about your burn, I've done that several times over the years, and it hurts like hell. I hope you feel better soon.

Do you have an Aloe plant? or if you know someone who does....break off a stalk...inside there is a gel like substance. Place that on your burn a couple times a day. If you place the stalk you broke off in a plastic bag it will allow you to use it more than once.

Dont use any scented lotions, even if it has aloe in it, the lotion will make it sting worse.

Do you happen to have an Aloe plant? I have several growing at my house. Whenever I get a burn or bite I break off a piece of the plant and squeeze the oil onto the spot. It helps a lot.

Aloe vera gel, if you have that at home. Run cool water over your arm too, to stop the burning.

Do you have cucumbers in the house? If so, you might try putting cucumber slices on the burn. I have heard that is good for skin, anyway.

Good luck!

Initially place under cold running water for 10 mins-obviously too late for this but remember for future reference.
Keep it clean -salt water readily available and cheap
cover with cling film will help protect against infection.
If does become infected could try -flamazine-but then would prefer you to see doctor for assessment
