What European Union country has the easiest, least stressful, immigration policies for US citizens? I have looked into Ireland due to the language being English, but policies seem to only work if I can get a job, and only if the employer cannot find anyone else within the EU as a suitable fit. Unfortunately I work in marketing research and I feel there are plenty of UK citizens who can fill the position as advertising and consumerism is quite strong there. Cost of living is not too much of an issue, as I have already lived in some of the most expensive cities in the US, such as New York. I do realize that before moving anywhere you should visit the country and talk to an embassy. Thanks.

Yes and no. There is a way to get around the whole business with the EU citizen. You are an american and speak american english. This also happens to be the accepted business english. Not a huge difference, but an employer who wants you, will use that, and there isn't anything the EU can do about it. Germany does it all the time. I studied german and one of my professors worked as a translator. Lots of germans speak english, but not american english. She was also really liberal. She said she camped out in Germany during the Reagan years.
The same rules applied then as now. So I'm saying don't give up. If you have a degree from a german university, you have the right to stay. Still, you have no idea how well respected american universities are here. Use that to your advantage.

As a yank you are going to need a visa. You should look at the website that the lovely poster above has given you. and work out from there which way would be easier, a student visa or a working visa. What you also need to bear in mind is the cost of education over here. Doing a masters degree is expensive, but as an international student its REALLY expensive. Its not just the course fees you have to consider, but living cost, and as a student I think they limit the amount of hours you can work. So you probably going to need some savings. Additionally its not that easy to get a job over here, so even if you do study here it doesn't guarantee a job, I doubt having an English degree would make much difference. You don't actually say what you are studying in. You might also consider doing your masters in the US and then considering travelling once you have some experience. Oh and we don't know what a freshman is, an age would be more helpful.

France has the easiest immigration policies for the US citizen and it is even represented by the Statue of Liberty in New York.
