New York City, can either be very spendy or just like any other city, there are less expensive places to eat. Air from Minneapolis to Newark or JFK can be from $500 to $1200, depending on far out you book your flight.

But the city is AWESOME!. I loved going there on business. There is so much to see and do, that you never get bored.

Air fare from a midwest hub city can be anywhere from $300 to $1000 depending on the deal you get. The average hotel room in NYC is now about $250/night so 5 nights would be $1250, plus city hotel taxes which, I'm thinking would add around 15% to that sum. Restaurants can range from McDonald's type to the outrageously expensive, but if you don't want to just be eating grease burgers every day, I'd say at least $100/day for food. Then add transportation, fees for museums, attractions, etc.

I'd say doing it on a tight budget, you could do 5-6 days for about $3000.

If you stay a week in a good hotel and you pay for airfare and you go see the sights and eat at restaurants and go out clubbing, it will cost you about $5,000.
