That's a good place for a first tattoo.
The pain is not much in that area.
Talk to your artist about it. Some of
the pain depends size of design,
and how long it may take. Don't worry.

I had my first tattoo done on my wrist, and it was completely tolerable.
The work around the veins was alright, and the parts over my veins burned, but it was more annoying than painful, so if you have a high tolerance, you'll do fine.
PS. As for all the people saying not to get it there because "you can't hide it easily" is B/S. I work in a professional office, and I just cover mine with a watch or bracelet.
Don't let people compromise or influence what you want to do with your life.

I have a tattoo that starts on the wrist and extends to my elbow. It hurt ALOT.
The forearm portion was fine and that I didn't mind at all. But the wrist burned! Tons of nerve endings there. I wouldn't recommend that spot as your first tattoo, instead have the tattoo start right below the wrist. Trust me, even the tattoo artist winced when he was doing the wrist.

I got my first tattoo the other week in the same place [my left inner wrist] it was kinda painful at the start because I was so anxious. After 5 minutes I was able to watch the tattooist at work without cringing or squeezing my boyfriends hand off lol. After it was done it didn't hurt one bit. E-mail me if you wanna know more or see a pic :-)

Jo-Ann, I'd suggest you get the tattoo a little higher up the arm. Tats on hands have a prison tattoo connotation to many people. And a tattoo on the hand area is unprofessional looking.
At least one tattoo artist of my acquaintance will not put a tattoo lower than the elbow without lots of convincing. Her philosophy is "Don't put a tattoo anywhere it can't be covered easily if a person ever wants to conceal it." I think that is a pretty good philosophy.

I think you should reconsider getting a tattoo on your wrist. I am not saying because it will hurt more, but for the reason on being able to hide the tattoo if you need to especially at your work place. Nothing worng in getting tattoos, I have 3 and getting a 4th one. But I have them in places I can hide them under my shirt at work and can show it off outside of work. So give it a thought.

If you want a tattoo you gotta be okay with handeling a lil pain because i mean it a needle thats going deep into your skin. I think the best way to describe it is like a bunch of bee stings going at your skin all at once.

i can't answer regarding the wrist area, but my guess is that it will be a little worse than getting it somewhere else on your body that has a little more meat under the skin. i have one tattoo on my left bicep and one on my right calf. i felt more burning from the friction of the needle going in and out than i did actual pain. i am planning on getting another soon. they are like potato chips....you can't just have one.

Well... sometimes you do bleed but depending or your sensitivity on your wrist determinds the pain. (Pench yourself with your nails) Does it hurt alot? do it harder and find your tolerance
