I have taught my child to say excuse me, please and thank you, your welcome, have a nice day. I cannot stand how people act these days and have made it clear to my child that you use your manners, no matter what the other people do. Its disgusting that most people act the way they do.

I teach my kids manners. However, I know that I have not taught them correct "etiquette". Those are two separate things in my book. I've taught them please, thank you, excuse me, etc. I haven't taught them things like which fork to use, to stand when a woman leaves or arrives at a table, waiting for everyone to sit and be served before starting to eat...
I think the problem with teaching manners these days is that families are so busy, no one eats together. These are the best times to teach manners. I don't pass anything unless I get a please and I keep a hold of it until I get a thank you. It didn't take long for my 3 boys to learn their pleases and thank yous. The excuse mes are a little harder to come by. With 3 boys, bodily functions are usually followed by peals of laughter and copy cat sounds. I give them about 10 seconds to be boys, then start counting to 3. They know that by 3 all noises stop and everyone has said "excuse me".

Parents are using the ones to teach children manners. However, if they didn't get the lesson, then they can't teach them. Other people can also teach manners- other older relatives, teachers, other people in authority positions. We should all take this seriously and show the younger generation what is the right way to behave.

Seldom.
People are overloaded because their foundations of how to live are shaken. The Bible, which is a book that many leaned on for hundreds of years for advice, is being called into question, and people are thinking in some cases, "Who cares?" anymore about any rules since they cannot lean on that book as much anymore, instead of writing some new chapters that would be applicable to this day and age that we can live by. But who would authorize that writing and who would allow it, having been brainwashed in the "old ways"?
Even the law of love is being called into question as being inadequate. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, is not good enough anymore. People realise that we all have feelings and that we must take into consideration other people's feelings when we do unto them. Hence the new rule reads ( and this is not in the Bible);
Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you, AS IF YOU WERE THEM!
If we can get this right, perhaps we can go back to manners in a more compassionate, non finger smacking mode!

the youngsters are even worse...whilst i became right into a baby we had books approximately sketch characters referred to as the Goop's and that they taught approximately manners, and all persons had stable manners in any respect, cases. today, no longer so, besides the shown fact that the youngsters in my community are astonishing, many I see out in public are no longer. Adults are undesirable too, and that they have such dismiss for others; e.g., in supermarkets whilst there are 2 of them working as a set, and one stands in line on an identical time as the different one runs around the save getting dozens greater products and you stand there fuming. only one occasion. Manners uncommon easily an endangered species.

It should be the parent, yet I wonder who does do it, seeing some of "the kids today" I am always on my children to use proper manners, ALWAYS. I get compliments on how well annered my kids are. Now dont get me wrong, they are not sweet little angels, but always know to say please, thank you and so on. My 6 year old son knows to hold the door for people. It's not rocket science, yet some parents can't teach a child a simple please. It drives me nuts.

It appears NO ONE has taken on the responsibility to do this anymore. It is ALWAYS the parent's job to do this!!!
If today's parents would just step up to the plate and act like parents (and NOT friends) then today's children would have good manners and be respectful.

I don't think good manners are taught no more these days. Kids do the darnest things, and say such negative remarks.

My kids are taught manners... I do it -- to the best of my ability.
They know to say please and thank you, they say excuse me (of course, they also laugh when they say excuse me for burping, but they're preschool boys, you can't hope for too much at once) they share, they hold doors for the person behind them... They use napkins at the dinner table....
We're working on not interrupting, and hopefully they'll master that.
