I grew up being a Christian (Parents and their parents were christian), but I slowly went away from it. Now, I don't want anyone saying anything stupid, only answer if your Christian, please. Anyways.....if you are christian, can you give me some insight? I want to be Christian, but what if it's not true? I know every christian will say it is because they believe it obviously, but Im lost....anyone give me some proof so I can believe again? I mean, of ALL the religions out there, what makes this one so likely to be so?

Great question!

This is the same circumstance I found myself in years ago. I was raised in an Irish Catholic environment; an uncle was a priest, and a cousin was a nun. For awhile, I thought I was going to become a priest -- I thought I had "the calling." (Trouble was, that celibacy thing; I knew I could never stick to that!)

For years, I didn't go to church, stayed away from all things religious. Then, I read Martin Luther's theses, and realized that some of the elements that pushed me away from the church were rules that were just made by men.

I do consider myself a faithful Christian, in that I am grateful for Jesus' sacrifice, in the name of spreading God's word. I do think it was/is the greatest act on our behalf. But the most important lesson that I take is the golden rule: love others as you would be loved. Doesn't matter others' faith, lack of faith, color, gender -- we are all children of our father.

And I don't think it matters whether or what faith you follow -- I don't think it matters to our father, and I don't think it should matter to anyone. Respect others, live a good life and pass along that goodness to others. How much more pleased could you make those on earth or elsewhere?

Good luck to you.

I think Christianity is different because Jesus is God and He died for you, so all of your sins are forgiven. Now God really wants to have relationships with you, not master-slave relationships, but Father-son relationships, and He actually does care for you. For me it is really important to know and remember that God actually loves me unconditionally, and no matter what I've done He is merciful to me. I think even if Christianity is not true (a lot of people say that) I would not trade the life that I have to the life that I had without Jesus.

If you pray to God and ask that he show you the truth he will.

You are the one that will have to answer to him, not another man. Just make sure that when you die you can know in your heart that you truly searched for God with an open mind and heart. I am not telling you that Christianity is the way.

I am a Christian, but I don't answer for you, you do.

"Seek and you shall find, ask and you will receive"

Are you born again? If you are then the Holy Spirit lives in you as His holy temple. Christainity is the only faith where God in the Person of the Holy Spirit lives in those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior apart from having the abundant life on earth and eternal life. Get God's power in your life by being baptized in the Holy Spirit and you will speak in tongues with the Holy Spirit giving you the utterance. When you speak in tongues you will experience the Holy Spirit working through you. The Holy Spirit will confirm with your spirit that you are a child of God. Your faith in God will grow as you experience the Holy Spirit's power and giftings working in your life. I am not asking you just to believe but to experience for yourself the reality of God.

In Proverbs it says that if we seek him diligently, we will find him. Jesus said if it was not true, He would have told us. If you believe Jesus is the son of God, then believe what He says. He also said He is the only way. To believe Him takes faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Immerse yourself in it and your faith will grow. I have been like you. I still seek God and sometimes I run away but like the prodigal son, I return. The prodigal son had to to two things to get out of the mudpit. He had to decide life had something better to offer and then he had to act on his decision. He got up and returned to the father. Just have faith.

Christianity is a HEART issue. God tugs at our heartstrings. He truly does love His creation. In the first two chapters of Romans it tells us that God has revealed Himself to us in two ways....one is thru our conscience (the heart string tug) and the other is thru nature. If you think about this openly you can see it. Christianity dates back, thru the Jews, to the beginning of time.....contrary to all other 'religions'. The Lord Himself will reveal Himself to you if you honestly and openly begin to seek Him. Talk to the Lord, honestly and openly, and tell Him how you feel.......and you will get the guidance you need now. Blessings to you, my friend !!

If you're wanting to be born again, I would recommend studying Romans chapter 10; verses 9 & 10.

" 9:That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

As Christians, our walk is with GOD, not humanity. HE wants a personal relationship with you. Christ paved the way for us, and all we have to do is follow the path. GOD has great things in store for our lives, but we have to walk the path, and completely trust HIM to guide us in the right direction. It is the only true path to ascension.

You don't have to go to a chruch. You don't have to fellowship with other people either. Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5 says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." To me that means, don't trust yourself (or humanity) to comprehend what is beyond comprehension, trust GOD to guide you.

The reason I discourage going to chruch, any chruch, is that any and all chruches have their own man-made doctrine that they will profess to be the truth which is not the case at all. For example, Trinitarians believe that Christ is GOD. No where in the Bible (in context) does Christ ever claim to be GOD. You also have to know your history. The concept of the trinity came about and was professed to be the truth at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, nearly three hundred years after Christ's death and resurrection. It's been perpetuated ever since. If you don't believe me, look it up on wikipedia.

If people would focus on GOD versus a chruch, all of that nonsense is avoided because the House of GOD is within you not some structure you go visit on Sunday.

If there is no doubt within your heart and your mind, GOD will reveal HIMself to you, trust in that.

Search your heart and mind, GOD will find you. Thanks and GOD Bless.

Read and study what the Bible says. See if you agree with it. Then also look at what it says about history, and things in nature (science). Check its accuracy. If the Bible weren't accurate in history and science, then I wouldn't pay attention to it's theological teaching. But since I have found it accurate in the science area that I have researched, then this helps build a case that is will be accurate in theology.
