I lost almost 2 stone two years ago by starting walking when previously I hadnt done any exercise before. (I was also going through a tough time and was anxious so Im sure that helped and supressed my appetite)

Currently I power-walk 5.5 kms every day and I dont eat a massive amount at all - probably around 1200-1500 calories each day but in the past 2 months I have put on 6 pounds and I cant shift it....

Could it be that my body has got used to the amount of exercise that I do and the amount of food that I eat and is working efficiently so thats why I cant lose those 6 pounds?

I have decided to start swimming each day too to see if that helps. Any advice please? I am not overweight for my height but if I keep putting the pounds on then I soon will be and will soon be back to where I started! (I am 5ft5 and did weigh 64 kilos... went down to 51 kilos... fluctuated around 54 for about 12 months and Im now 56.8 kilos... not that Im weight concious or anything!!! :) ) Thanks.

Forgot to add that Ive tried slim fast for the past couple of weeks and still nothing! Its v frustrating..... Im considering doing a detox for a few days and eating just fruit and vegetables to see if that helps..... I know weight is not important compared to other things in life - its just getting me down a bit at the mo.

weight is simple arithmetic. if you burn off more calories than you eat, you lose weight.
So, if you are putting weight on you are either taking in more calories than you think or there is a medical issue

Regarding exercise you are doing really well. By what you are saying I think that the reason that you have put on weight maybe its muscle which weighs heavier then fat. Have you lost inches since gaining weight?
The other thing is if you don't eat enough the food you do eat is stored as fat because what your body is thinking is that its not getting any food and holds on to it. You need to have a sensible diet. Plenty of fruit and veg and protein such as chicken or fish. Not forgetting water!!! When you exercise you do need to drink more so that you don't dehydrate. Everyone, no matter who they are should drink 2 litres of water a day. If they are overweight they should drink more.

Swimming is great to do too!!
Good Luck!

You have to keep pushing your limits or changing your training program. The body is very good at adapting to the workload you put it under if you keep doing the same thing - you become increasingly efficient.

Try changing the way you train, adding in interval sessions (fartlek). You have to keep your body guessing to make sure it burns fat properly with each session.

sounds like you`re doing everything right but remember muscle weighs more that fat so if you lost weight but it doesn`t show, you might have built up some muscle and muscle weighs more.
