i wanted to share my beliefs and would like your input. not saying mine are right or true but this is some of my beliefs.

1) spiritual gifts are for us today, not just the discipiles

2)once saved, not always saved

3)good works or deeds have nothing to do with your salvation, but is something you strive for once saved

4)baptism has nothing to do with salvation, but is something you do after your saved to please God

5)you dont lose your spiritual gifts even if you do fall away, you just wont use them

6)you dont have to go to church to go to heaven but it doesnt hurt getting your spirit fed or being with other fellow christians for encouragement.

7)even if you dont speak in tongues doesnt mean your not saved, its just 1 of the evidence the Spirit is in you

i guess this is enuff. any feed back?

Actually, you are going against the bible. It says not to question your faith, but to blindly believe.

Hebrews 11:1 that says, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see."

1. I agree

2. I disagree, find all the occasions when the word "blot" appears in the Bible. This is a false doctrine invented by John Calvin and his followers.

3. I agree

4. When we are saved we are Baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ. Water Baptism is something else which is not required for us to be saved. In fact, I won't baptize anyone until after I know that they have been saved.

5. I agree you won't lose your gifts, but some use them anyway in a sinful manner.

6. The Bible tells us not to forsake the Assembling of ourselves together with other Christians. This is not speaking exclusively about "church".

7. Speaking in tongues is not required for someone to be saved.

Like every other important decision of your life, you have to discern God's will. It sounds like you've already done that, but just to be on the safe side, there are some questions you should ask yourself. The most important question is "Does this man, or love for this man, draw you away from the Lord?" Only you can answer that. But beware. You must be honest with yourself. Is this man open to your faith? Does he belittle it? If there is anything about the relationship that will cause you, over time, to neglect your faith, then you need to deal with that right up front. I can understand that he is not Catholic, but if he thinks he can cut off that side of you, and force you to keep it separate-- well, if that is the case then neither of you are being realistic. I have too many friends who have promised to keep their faith separate from their marriages, and it is always a problem. What I would hope is that you will be the means of introducing this man to the Love of Christ. Afterall, Europe was Christianized through Catholic women marrying pagan kings. It's nothing new. Whatever you decide, I pray that God will bless you both.

1. Agree. Jesus used spiritual gifts in His ministry so do we (Acts 10:38 Mark 16:17,18).

2, Disagree. (John 10:27-29, 14:16; Hebrews 10:10,12,14).

3. Agree.

4. Agree. Baptism is identification with the death, burial and ressurrection of our Lord.

5. Agree if fall away means you are not living out the kingdom life (Romans 11:29).

6. Agree and we go to church to get transformed to be like Jesus.

7. Agree. It is evidence that one has not been baptized with the Holy Spirit (John 7:38,39). Every believer has the Holy Spirit in them as a fountain of water springing up to eternal life (John4:14)

As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8),
but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12),
and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15).

Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

All very good, but don't put too much on the gifts of the spirit. 1 Corinthians either 12 or 13, Paul admonishes them for putting too much emphasis on this. The gifts are nice if you have them, but there is much more to being a Christian than that.

5. I believe we can lose them
6. I do not think that speaking with tongues are necessarily the evidence that the Spirit is in you. We should always have someone to interpret if some one is speaking with tongues.

I am with except on the losing salvation I do not believe you lose it once you have been saved. I feel that the only way to lose it it to deny God, That you as well as all of us will stand before Him and answer to Him for why we did what we did. He will judge us us accordingly, Then He will wipe the tears from our eyes.

To prove the efficacy of your "cafeteria" approach to the Christian faith, I suggest you attempt to bake a cake ... substituting salt for sugar. Then see how it tastes.

The only complete and consistent Christian theology in the world is that which was given to us by Jesus and the apostles ... much of which is reflected in scripture ... and the rest in the traditional teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.
