Of course they do. I have schizophrenia and am perfectly capable of both receiving and giving love. I also feel sad, angry, happy etc and I am definitely not incapable of recognising these feelings in other people. If I was then I wouldn't be the Mother and partner that I am. My Daughter and partner are adored by me. I know your only curious but that is such a false and ignorant statement. The only mental disorder whereby people are devoid of such feelings either for themselves or for others is a person with psychopathic personalities, for example serial killers. I would also like to say that people suffering from schizophrenia are more likely to kill themselves than others and more likely to be violent towards themselves than others. You are more likely to be run over by a car than harmed by a schizophrenic. I have never been violent when unwell

My partner has schizophrenia and she is highly educated. She has a dual major in computer science, owns her own business. Lives like anyone else. Just because she has a mental illness doesn't mean she is numb to love or any other emotion. This is the STIGMA that we need to remove from peoples minds.

My friend's daughter has been suffering with schizoprhrenia for many years. When she's on the right medications, she is very loving, likes to look nice, adores animals, and is social. Without proper meds, she becomes violent and irrational. It's a horrible disease.

pixietrix you may think you can have all the feelings you mention but i would be interested to here wot your family have to say about you coz if you have it you wont even be aware that your perception of yourself is probaly not what those around you would agree with. what you mean by "when your unwell" nice way of justifiying your behaviour when you been a ar!!h!!e probaly. its a good one tho i shall use it myself

My daughter has schizophrenia, she has trouble feeling real emotions, she has never been able to show empathy, but she does understand these emotions, and can feel sad, unwanted or loved, but not recognise these in other people.

Depends on your medication, if you're taking lithium then it's hard to feel highs or lows but you can still love someone!

they have more feelings that 'normal' people do. They notice everything and are very sensitive to their environment.
