I cooked my husband steak this morning at 5am to take on a submarine in his lunch box for dinner tonight because he has 24hr duty every third day. I don't like him eating sandwiches all the time so I cooked him a nice juicy steak this morning as a surprise... When he opens that lunch box tonight, he is going to feel so much better that he has to be there because he can have a good home cooked meal.
I support him every day, and sometimes it is very hard. Being in the Navy is very taxing for him. There are so many aspects of military life that civilians just cannot realize are so difficult. I am glad there are so many people out there who support our men and women, but I wish that we could be a nation united in support. I will not say whether I agree or disagree with the current war, because it is pointless. It is man's nature to make war on one another. If we were not at war with Iraq, we would be at war with someone else. But to be so divided in our country... The people in our military do not make the laws. They do not decide who we are going to attack, who we are going to be at war with. Why do people blame the people like my husband who just want a secure job and place to live for their families? Why do we have to hear things like "Your husband should die, that way you'll collect the insurance money, that's all you guys care about anyway is the money." Like i read in a post earlier... I just cannot understand how people can be so cruel. People often think that in order to support the troops they have to do something big. That they have to send something... If you see someone walking that you know is in the military, why don't you stop them and say, "Thank you, I know you have to put up with alot of crap from insensitive people. I really appreciate that you are protecting me and mine." That, my friend, is true support. At this point, words might actually speak louder than actions.

Yup. I packed up a big care package for my wife and her section today. I also got a couple of local businesses down where she is from to support her troop (she is assigned to an Air Cavalry squadron, so a troop is like a company).

My Marine Corps League Det is having a blood drive for the troops. It will be collected with the help of Naval and Marine personnel from Camp Lejuene, NC. Blood will be for troops only.
For a few years now we send boxes of everything from school supplies to gun cleaner and tampons (good for plugging bullet holes).

Our son is in Iraq now and we support him and his unit anyway we can. Our older son just got out of the VA hospital and we have been asked to be in a focus group to help make changes in the hospital for the OIF/OEF vets. We have a new breed of soldiers needing help and have to give them whatever it takes to help them.

I am currently engaged to an Army Man and have several friends in as well. I help them in anyway I can. From listening to their day and being there for them, to if they or a friend would like something from home and I'll send it to them. So yeah I would say I try and help out. ; )

My husband's doing his 3rd tour in Iraq. I sleep alone every night, if I ever do sleep. I'm awake because of nightmares that he wont come home. I've sent letters, packages, and convinced people at my Mom's business to adopt a PLT. So I would say yes. Thanks for trying to get others involved tho. God Bless and Semper Fi

I pray for these heroes. Both my sons served in the military. One was stationed in Korea. The other in Afghanistan.
