Yes cut it into blocks and wrap it cling film or put it into bags it will be ok for 4-6 months

I wouldn't freeze it whole or in chunks. Grate it first, put it in ziplocks and squeeze all the air out, and whack it in the freezer. I do that all the time and the cheese is just fine.

(I am envious that you were gifted with a large block of Parm, that stuff's expensive!)

Sorry, but cheese cannot really be frozen, if you are willing to grate it, this is the only time it even vaguelly works, otherwise it goes mouldy like unfrozed.

if it`s a proper Parmesan I wouldn`t freeze it wrap it well in cling film then foil & keep it in a cool dark place, providing it doesn`t get damp or overexposed to air it should last for ages

yes and it is bettter if you freeze it cos then it lasts longer.
