I personally think so, as they don't follow Islam and have called a lot of their culture Islam. They've also incorporated their culture into Shariah, such as death for apostasy, when Islam says to leave them alone. What is your take on this? Have you heard of the following before?
"Offices in the Islamic states were given to those who were best qualified, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. For example, Ibn Athal, a Christian physician, was the private doctor of the caliph Muawya, the founder of the Umayyad state. Another Umayyad caliph, Abdul-Malik Ibn Marwan, appointed two Christians, Athnasius and Isaac, to top positions in the state of Egypt. Adud Al-Dawla, an Abbassid caliph, made Nasr Ibn Haroun, a Christian, his prime-minister, giving him authority to rule over Iraq and southern Persia."

Salamu alaykum sister, opinions varie so do people/cultures and the application of belief..the title to your question concludes the answer, countries and corruption have become synonymous in term and Islam has nothing to do with the 2 as when they are combined,Islam regulates peace and also conflict and has ways of dealing with the 2.those who claim to be leaders of Muslim countries but are corrupt will be accountable if not in this life then assuredly in the hearafter.
Our Great Prophet said "when you choose a leader amongst you, choose the one who is not forthcoming about it for he refuses on the only bases that he knows what Allah expects from him"
be patient sister, Allah reminds us in the Holy Quran time and time again with this simple verse "Certainly the promise of Allah is true"

Corruption is over the world not only as the monopoly in islamic countries.Corrupt is taking other's right for him/herself or for other 's benefit by disobeying the laws and regulations
.Did you hear that in Nedherland the member of the royal palace also did corruption act some years go ?Did you read in the news paper that officials of USAgovernment corrupted tha money for the war needs in Iraq ?In line with islamic teaching taking other's right is prohibited in the holy Qur'an.Increasing or decreasing of normal weight or length measure is prohibited in the holy Qur'an.Cheating other is not allowed in the holy Qur'an etc etc.But in fact there are many muslim people do that by normal feeling that they do not have sins..I read a book that curruption is a culture since thousand years ago, because humans are greedy and they do not satisfy whatever they have earned something as their livelihood...So curruption occured also in islamic countries.Your story is right that sometimes in islamic countries there are many important positions are filled in by non muslim. such as prime minister of Iraq in the era of Sadam Husein was a christian..I think some of non musiims or christian officials are corrupt too..Corruption occured when there is a chance and the related officials have no good moral. or ethic.His/her faith is weak..

Any country that insists on either 1, an absolute monarchy eg ( Saudi Arabia) 2 a Military junta, ( eg Pakistan) or 3, a Theocracy ( eg Iran ) is, by definition, corrupt. (...Sadly, democracy only means the corrupt have to be more skilful at hiding it, though, I think...)
Unfortunately, many Muslims want 3, some even said they were planning one for Australia. ( even though they are a minority in Australia...! ) Any person/ religion/ group with the unmitigated gaul to take advantage of democratic freedoms of their adopted country, ( including practice of their religion) to plan the overthrow of that system, and the ( religious and democratic) rights of your "Hosts"..... In any other context, we would ( ..should..) call this Treason. ( Be assured each of the above systems WOULD call it treason. )
Do you think they are gonna manage a meaningful reform of their bigoted practice in their own countries, seriously, you have to get real...
Ironically, the WORST anti democratic countries among them are our "allies", namely Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. This is typical of stupid US foriegn policy.
There has been substantial progress toward democracy in Iran and Syria, ( though youd never guess from the media coverage )though insufficient, US policy toward them will probably end up being a set back for democracy there as it has been elsewhere. ( Makes you wonder whether they really belive in Democracy themselves...)
Ps I agree with you "youtheguy", Muhammud was a complete hypocrite, he married a widow, against his own rules, and she was convieniently old and rich, too. He was a warmonger and worse, yet hes somehow supposed to be a prophet of God, I don't buy it.
The Luck7 guy reminds me of the Communist guys saying oh yes, some people are corrupt, but communism is perfect... ya hello, reality check...
Your greeting is "Peace be on you/ may God be with you" yet what are the actions of Muslims, never mind their "corrupt" governments? Do you forgive or have revenge, do you love or hate....? Your Prophet was corrupt, your Kuran is corrupt, your leaders are corrupt, and blood is on your hands and in your mouths, hatred... Is your "PEACE" for all or only for yourselves?
Mr Ruchjat, we know how corrupt the world is, Mr Bush and his cronies are probably the worst and most corrupt ( and antidemocratic) crew that have ever been in power in the US,( and thats saying something...!) Howver, in a year or so, theres some chance that those bums will be turfed out. Will Saudi Arabia and her cousin states still be corrupt, with no hope of reform then? Yes, and an Islamic state would be even worse. Don't you people GET IT?

No more than countries with governments based on any other religion are. When Christianity ruled Europe we called it the dark ages, and those that think the USA had a golden age of Christianity that caused us to become the power we are know nothing of history. The Christian America is mythology created by Christians.

I think religion through government in general is corrupt. The government uses religion as a tool to control the masses.

There is a lot of work to be done in the "Islamic" countries. As they are ruled unjustly by despots who do not strive hard in Allah's cause. Allah knows best!

Well, for my opinion, it's depend on "Man behind the Gun" ?
It's depend on people in the government. Law enforcement must be health without no corruption.
Brunei is good example for it.
