I know school is over, but it still bugs me that people at school make fun of me for having ADHD and OCD. Is there anything I can do to make this not happen next year

Whoever is bullying you is stupid for bullying someone because of ADHD and OCD.

Whenever he does bully you, just try to think about how much of a loser he is for bullying someone with ADHD.

Oh man, I know what you mean by that! My brotehr has ADHD and a few other things to go along with it, and he used to get bullied all the time. Then my brother started lifting weights and got HUGE muscles, then nobody messed with him because even if he hugged you it hurt!

And I get bullied because I have depression and panic attacks, then I worked on running fast and learned a different language so people would hear me speaking a different language and think I'm weird and leave me alone; and if they didn't stop then since I was one of the fastest, the people would try to defeat me in races and I'd let them get halfway there before I started off then I'd still win. So once they got defeated by the "wierd freaky kid" everybody knew and laughed at them, which is what they get for bullying people! And this also applies to band class too. :D

Bottom Line: If you have a really great talent (or more than one) work on it so there will always be that one (or more) subject where you can beat the bullies just by doing what you normally do.

Your best bet is to research (from reputable sources) over the summer about your ADHD and OCD so that you are really informed. Also, get support and information in helping you optimally manage the conditions.

The reason I recommend this is that the more informed you are, the more you will be able to not let other's ignorance get to you as much. Of course it is inevitable that some cruel, ignorant bullies will exploit whomever and whatever they can to get their superiority jollies, but anyone who would act that way isn't worth knowing anyway.

Of course it is painful when others are cruel to someone about something that is not their fault (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc). You may be able to bring charges against physical bullying (assault is a crime). You may also be able to enlist the help of some teachers/counselors at your school who are enlightened and informed about the issues involved. The school officials should actively deal with preventing bullying.

The sad truth, however, is that bullies often do their dirt away from the attention of adults. As much as possible, avoid any interactions from these scumbags, who get pleasure from hurting others. If they can hurt you, they get their little superiority high.

The more you emotionally accept your issues as the matter-of-fact physical conditions that they are and manage them just as you would any other physical condition, the less the taunts will sting. Kids have been bullied for being diabetic, for wearing glasses, for having cancer. It's ugly behavior, and whatever they say about you is really about their own secret fears about themselves.

ADHD and OCD are actually very, very common. You may have this in common with more of your classmates than you realize. See if there are any support groups online for you.

Also, there are some very good books. One is "Brain Lock", which is a good book for information. There is also a good autobiographical book written by a very successful radio broadcaster in SF named Jeff Bell, titled Rewind, Replay,Repeat.

Be strong, take good care of yourself, and don't allow the A.....holes to cause you to feel bad about yourself. They are the ones who are wrong.

Find good people, and hang with them.

One last thing; these conditions can impact your attention for learning, so that you may miss important information. By law the school must help you so that you can succeed. Two good websites are; ldonline.org and schwablearning.org.

Warm wishes to you.

As simple as i may sound, but the best thing to do is ignore them. When they relaized that you are not bothered by their insults, they will eventually stop. Kids are so immature. I promise when you get to a higher grade the teasing will stop.

I assume that you are being treated for ADHD and OCD because people at school make fun of you. It is very brave of you to admit that you have ADHD and is compliace with treatment. Good luck, and don't let the little people get to you.

I don't know whether you would consider trying this or not but this is my suggestion; Make it a project, maybe for a health class or some other class, but make it a project to try to educate the student body about ADHD and OCD. Tell them all you can about these disorders and provide handouts. Then, when they know more about it they will understand why you are the way you are and (hopefully) stop bullying you.

Unfortianatly no but if you got respect not many people would slag you over it, get really good at a sport or get a really hot girlfriend who'll be laughing then?
OCD how ever is a different kettle of fish, it's really annoying 'cos I had it as a child and still kinda do but it wasn't very noticable to every one, just keep your self occupied and don't think about your problem and resist it if you have to. Even thinking about my OCD has kind of stated it up again the best thing to do is not worry about it and forget about it.

Keep your chin up, that's my first bit of advice.

Okay, there is always the option of transferring schools- do you have any private schools you can go to, maybe? You may get more individual attention there and the teachers might see that others don't pick on you.
...Other than that, all I can say is ignore the hell out of those people and they'll eventually tire of giving you a hard time. Remember, what goes around comes around.

You are surrounded by ignorant, close-minded individuals. Don't think they don't know what they say is hurtful. Maybe you can educate them or ask the school nurse to hold a small seminar on the condition. If you are not comfortable with that you should talk to the school's faculty about their harassment policy. That will put heat on them and they will enforce the rules.
Don't hold this in. Vent (in the right way). You have rights.
And DON'T take other meds!

Take some self defense lessons, and bulk up.Next school year, pick one guy and open up a can of whoop a** on him.The other ones will leave you alone after that.Do not do it on school property though, and make sure you discuss this with your parents first.I don't condone fighting, but sometime there is no other way.

Some people are pigs and the only way to make them back off is to try to talk to them. If this doesn't work then you will have to report them to your advisor. I was once harassed by a large idiot in my school because his girl liked me and spoke to me a great deal. One day we had words and it led to a fight. I am not a great fighter but I managed to cut his ear and blackened his eye. No more confrontations. Incidentally he cut my lip and gave me a swollen jaw but it was great. I got the big idiot off my back. I am not suggesting that you battle these stupid people but if you talk to them you may make a point or two. Otherwise explain your problem to your advisor.
