I want to be a Journalist. I want to work in news. I want to spend my life researching, writing and reporting. That is all turning out to be more difficult than I expected. I am 24 years old right now. I got started late in college because I joined the military right out of high school. Now, I am close to finishing a two-year degree at a community college, and I am trying to get an internship of some kind at any newspaper. I'm doing free-lance writing for a county newspaper, but I have only been given three stories for the entire summer. Anywhere else I look, it seems I need a BA and three years experience before anyone will even talk to me. How can I get my foot in the door of Journalism when everywhere requires a foot in the door for an interview!? I like writing. Every teacher I've had in college has told me I'm an execellent writer. What else do I need? I'm mostly worried because I don't think I can afford to go to a university.
