If you want to deepen your relationship with God, start going to Mass. It's a little difficult to get closer to someone if you don't go to the trouble to seek them out ... and Mass is where you will find and receive Christ in the Eucharist.

As for Bible study, it might be easiest to start with the Mass readings; you can find them online, or get a missal of your own. One way is to perhaps read the chapters from which the readings for a particular day were taken. If a Catholic attends every Mass for three years in a row, he/she hears the entire Bible read aloud -- but certainly reading on your own is profitable for your development in the faith.

Another alternative is to obtain a copy of the Catechism and read a section that you're interested in or feel drawn to, then read the Bible verses referenced there.

Or ... check and see if your parish has a Bible study group. Many do.

But whatever you do -- if you're Catholic, you belong at Mass, so that's your starting point.

Go to Mass daily! Honest, it's totally worth the effort. And as a new Catholic, you ought to know that you are obliged to go on Sundays unless you are desperately ill or injured. Otherwise, you are committing a sin. So get yourself to confession and make sure you get to Mass on Sundays (or Saturday evening Vigil Mass if need be.)

If you want to read the Bible daily, the Catholic lectionary tells you what to read every day. You can go to this web site to learn what the readings are each day:

www.mycatholic.com

You can hear the readings said aloud at this link:

Also, you should spend a great deal of time in prayer. This helps every person of every faith deepen their relationships with God.

Pray first that God will lead you into all truth.
read the ten commandments, and have a look at the 4th, as in which day God wants us to worship, then John 14:15

John, as well as the other gospels, are some good reading. My favorites at the moment John 15, John 17, psalms 91

If you want areal deep experience with God, try 1 hour a day of bible study and prayer and expect nothing less than to be totally blown away by the Great and Mighty God of the universe

Well, when I was trying to go for my first communion and confirmation I was given a Life in Christ hand book. The studies were to prolong for a time span of about a good solid year. I have read parts of the book and I love it to bits and pieces. I found a lot of things written in the Life of Christ was very knowledgable truth with the relationship with God and meanings of things within the church.

No, I didn't get the chance to finish my first communion nor confirmation but I loved it.

I would advise you to read Life in Christ A Catholic Catechism for Adults
