I put a chemical in my hair so it won't frizz up so bad. And it works. Sometimes I straighten my hair with a ceramic flat iron.
It has grown a lot in the past year and I'm trying to grow it waist length or longer (just as long as I had it as a young child. But since it has been chemically treated and the last time I had chemicals in my hair it broke off. What are some ways to keep my hair as healthy as it is now?

By the way I only straighten my hair once a week. I don't do it everyday.

And the chemical didn't straighten my hair, it just doesn't frizz up as bad anymore.

try to avoid flat-ironing or blow drying your hair as much as possible. find a natural style that you can wear on regular days and save the heat styling for special ones.
when you wash your hair, detangle it gently with a wide tooth comb. a fine tooth comb or brush will break your delicate locks.
condition your hair at least once a week.
and finally, if possible, and if you can manage your real natural hair, stay away from chemicals!!

You should be sure to use anti frizz shampoo and conditioner. If you buy special shampoo's and conditioners then it should keep it healthy. But by using a flat iron it could dry out your hair or cause it to have split ends. The brand name Aussie shampoo has this special conditioner that keeps your hair healthy. So try not to use a lot of chemicals but regular shampoos or conditioners.

The best quality shampoo and conditioners are a professional brand called Nexus. You purchase them at salons. Be sure to get a consultation from a hairdresser on a regular basis to be sure you are still doing well, or if you need to use a different conditioner within the Nexus line of products.

...I think the answer is in your question...you didn't need a relaxer (which is a chemical that RELAXES curls in the hair strand) but you put one in your hair anyway...to help with frizziness you can just put product on the hair... also (you put chemicals on your hair and didn't need to but also you are putting heat on your hair)...you are stressing your hair...there are several products right at rite aid that help reduce frizziness...try one of those and stop putting chemicals on your hair!
Kortney is right on the money...wrap that hair at night and add some product as well cover it with a silk or satin scarf...this will force the hair to lay nicely...

Wild Growth and MTG are great for getting your hair healthy again. Try not to process it with relaxers and dye!. Keep those ends clipped and try a "body wrap". You know, wearing it down and wrapping it at night with a silk scarf.
These techniques are great for African American hair.

properly i could ask a professional with regards to the straightener situation, yet to maintain your hair looking healthful you may desire to devour food with a lot of B-supplements, incredibly B-12 supplements.
