I don't like asking people to pray for me...but I feel that I have to right now because I'm in need of some additional strength.

If you're a non-believer and want to say something like "prayer doesn't work" then go ahead...you'll get 2 points but wont affect me either way.

Right now I'm struggling personally whether I should go to a church or not. I currently am not a member of a church, I'm not even baptized. I know I need to be but I don't know what to do. It's hard to explaining what is going on right now, but please keep me in your prayers that God will guide me to the truth.

Thanks everyone...

Martin, I'm not afraid of anything...well. Yeah, I am. I'm afraid if I die tomorrow, I'm not baptized(not being born of water and the spirit), and over the age of accountability that, if God is real, that I will go to Hell.

So, by being baptized I am forgiven my sins...

Of course if someone doesn't believe in the bible they wont believe in that. I will talk to people of other churches. There are lots of churchs, but not a lot of religions. There are 9 United Methodist churches in my town...My dad, brother, and sister-in-law are United Methodist...my mom is Mormon, I am nothing.

ClassyInCoach, I shall pray for you too.

To the people to told me go join a church...this is the problem. I am torn between faiths...not just 2, but many. I try to follow one but I am only met by negativity.

One of the churches, people are very nice, in the other only some are nice...and one of the beliefs I'm torn between is atheism.

I believe there is a God and that Jesus is His son...but every day I'm tried in this matter. I am praying for myself, but I need help from others...

THE ONLY THING YOU MUST DO FOR SURE, is believe and recieve Jesus as your Lord and saviour. Everything else is whatever you want to do, or if you feel God is telling you to do it. As far as your salvation, God did that for you.

I'm not going to be an assh0le, even though I don't believe prayer works. I know that the position you are in can be very painful.

Some friendly advice: why do you feel that you need to go to church and be baptized? Are you afraid of something, or do you feel guilty, or do you feel an absence of knowledge about the truth? You would probably find it helpful to talk to ministers of several different religions, and also to read a lot of things about religion and philosophy. Both of these will guide you to the truth. If you feel guilty, try to make amends.

Good luck, mate.

I shall abide by your request. I will pray for you even now as I am writing. A church is where you are; it is not a place or somewhere you go.

Walls of blue or vehicles of red or white do not dictate your destiny. She is not helpless, though she thinks she is. Your protection will come from your friend. Jake, Jack or someone of that similar name is in your life and will help you.

Marie, Mary or Julie comes to mind. She will help you. There is another who is related to you. You were told of this. In a home of three windows facing the north you are. The bycycle and the brown dog you know about.

Yes, I am sending my prayers to you right now. You know in your heart that you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you mean it in your heart he will save you right now. It can happen whether you are in a church or not. Or whether you are baptized or not. But, do get to a church and do what you want to do in your heart. Make things right. God Bless you. Go today. It doesn't have to be on a Sunday. Call a church today.

There's no shame in asking others to petition God to be with you. Prayers are often most effective when they're selflessly made by another. Personally, I will pray for you since you had the courage to ask. Just find a church nearby and go talk to someone there. They'll tell you everything you need to know, we're always looking to help newcomers find their way. May God be with you, Brian.

Hey Brian-
Maybe you should not only pray but talk to clergy of different churches, and go on line and look up the different religious beliefs of a variety of denominations -not just in the "christian" faith, but others as well. Maybe the struggle you are having is trying to fit into a mold that is not who you are?

Leave the guy alone. He asked for help in his time of need and you basically slap him in the face with your remarks. Not cool.

I'm not really sure who to pray for since you didn't provide your name, but I do hope God gives you the strength and guidance you need.

You don't need a church or a baptism to talk to Him though. Just come to Him in prayer, accept Jesus' payment for you on the cross, ask Him into your life, and open your heart to him.

Edit: Brian, I have brought your prayer request up in a christian group I attend.

The truth is that you need to be fellowshipping with the Lord's people. The Bible says not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

I don't know what your current circumstances are, and your reasons, but remember, to please God, not man.

Father God, I pray that You will reveal the truth of Your Word to this person. I pray that You will give Your strength and understanding, and blessing to this One, in Jesus Name. Amen.

God bless you!
