Yeah, it is safe just try and keep the water out of his eyes and ears. Make sure to dry him all off afterwards.

Puppies generally do not need to get bathed until they are five months old since they get their vaccinations during these first five months of their lives and during this time their bodies are more sensitive to catching a cold. It's always best to take all the necessary precautions just to be sure. When your puppy finally takes his first bath, make sure to find a nice warm spot to it in and use the appropriate dog shampoo. Puppies and dogs don't need to get bathed very often in order to stay clean. The most important requirement for their cleanliness is to get groomed and brushed everyday. If the dog or puppy gets mud on his coat, you can clean it off by using a towel with soap and warm water. Constantly bathing a puppy and dog is not recommended because shampoo and soap damages the natural oils of the puppy's skin and it tends to let off a strong odor and their coats begin to look dull. You should bathe your puppy or dog e
very two or three months or whenever absolutely necessary.

I would suggest that you wait till your pup is around 3mnths old. Pups also can catch the flu and it would not be wise to give him a bath so young. You could rather use baby powder which has talc in it that fleas and ticks dont like, and it will keep him smelling like a baby.
If you really want to bath him, I would suggest you bath him then towel him down and give him a blow dry to prevent him from catching the flu. You could also use Frontline spray which is excellent for young pups and lactating moms, which keeps the coat clean and is also for fleas and ticks.
Pups dont really need bathing till around 3mnths old. If you are still uncertain, ask your local vet for more advise on the matter. Good luck.

I am assuming this pup is still with its mother,,,, as 4 weeks is much to young to be adopted out. The dam usually keeps the pups pretty clean, but at 4 weeks they are started on gruel and you do have to use a damp rag to clean the pups off after feeding,,,,so yes,,,,,, sponge bath that baby ,

Is it necessary? Because one month is still such a delicate stage, I would do my best to avoid submerging at this point. You can buy puppy wipes at Pets Mart as a substitution. If you must bathe the puppy avoid all flea products and go with a mild, puppy safe shampoo. Avoid the face and be sure to gently blow dry with a warm dryer when done.

Use a wipe n dipe, like his mom would. Actually, our last batch of oops pups got in each other's feces so often oh, yuck! But I remember we'd have to hose them down once a day every day and clean out the kennel then put them back inside. So yeah, I think it's fine. Just be careful with his back.

If it really stinks because it stepped in some stuff or something then YES, but otherwise it's best to spot clean with puppy wipes or a damp warm cloth and then make sure the pup stays warm until totally dry.

At 4 weeks, you can give a first bath IF NEEDED. Use 1 teaspoon Dreft detergent diluted in about a 10 gallon tub of warm water.
Dry the pups thoroughly, keep them away from fans, air conditioning etc until they are completely warm and dry.

They say not to, it says on the bottle too... but if there is a serious reason why you need to give them a bath, such as fleas, use ALITTLE flea shampoo such as sergents flea shampoo and keep it on for about a minute, and then rinse them in warm water, be very careful not to get it in their eyes or nose, when you are done dry him VERY well with one towel and then put him in a nice warm towel from the dryer and rub him to get some friction going to keep him warm for about a half an hour or so, sometimes they shake alittle but it is normal, just keep them in the towel until they are warm.. my dog just had nine puppies and we had to give them all baths because of fleas, they are 5 weeks old. They were fine, they shaked alittle but we made sure they got dry and warm.... but if they dont have fleas i would say wait about another month, unless they are really dirty and you can use a damp warm wash cloth and then dry them off really good... If they do have fleas I would highly suggest giving them a bath because they could die from them.
