I am a 28 year old male and I just love living with my family. They won't be around forever, so I plan on living here for as long as I can. What's better than no rent or expenses and having dinner ready for you when you get home from work in the evening. My car is paid for along with my insurance, only a fool would say no if this was offered. My grandfather always used to say, "Never say no to money." The thing I don't understand is the jealousy and nasty comments I have to confront on a daily basis. I am a hard working, responsible and independent adult (LOL, except financially) and people can't seem to understand that it's an accomplishment in my opinion to be 28 years old and still get along with everyone in the household. I earned the right to still live here. The same goes for my adult siblings (26 and 24). Does anyone else endure similar opposition to their living arrangements? And what is it with ladies who think it is unattractive to love ones family?
Thoughts?

In case you were wondering, my parents are not in a situation in which they need financial support from their children, they worked their whole lives so they could do this for us. My father's parents did the same thing and he turned out fine. By witnessing the responsibility of my parents, I learn it for myself. So don't give me bull about learning responsibility. LOL and also, living on Long Island is extremely expensive. Making 30k a year won't get you a decent apt. Even if it did, why waste money on something you don't need or want?

Privacy with girlfriends is not an issue because I don't date and I can't have sex before marriage anyway. So there.

Close-knit families often live this way; even after marriage, a private apartment can be built on top of a garage or other accommodation made to make a gesture toward privacy.

Your parents must be pretty great people to rear their kids to be able to get along so well living in the same house, even as adults. I wish our school districts, state governments and even world leaders could sit at their feet and learn a thing or two.

Best of luck to you!

yo, i am in the same boat except im a lot younger. I LOVE IT AT HOME. GO HOMEBOYS. anyways i'm hoping to move out by 22, where do you live man? You don't plan on having sex until you're married? Are you omish? Look if you jack off you're breaking the same rules so think about that. GO get a woman. It might be hard living at home though. It's great that you get along with your parents but in all honesty you're probably a bit off. I think it's natural for people to leave their parents. All animals do it, and if the kid animals don't do it themselves the parents kick them out to fend for themselves. Sorry for the bad analogy, but it makes sense to me. People may be jealous that they dont have the same relationship like you do with you're parents, but i doubt thats really the reason. You might be the next 40 yr old virgin. Haha i'm just kidding with you, anyways if things are going well with you and you're content with you're life, who the hell cares what other people think? I just think that you would want to take a risk in you're life to see what else is out there, instead of living sheltered at home. But i must agree it's so damn comfy

What's better than living at home you ask?? at 28?? Ummmm how about some self respect and dignity. How about being a man and standing on your own two feet without mommy and daddy supporting you! What makes you different than a 12 year old? I was working at 12 so don't say work! You can love your family, that is not the issue! Women don't want a mamma's boy who can't cut the damn umbilical cord. That's a turn off! A moocher....turn off....dependent prick...turn off....Jesus are you serious!!!!!

Are you sureyou are 28? You don't sound like it...a woman doesn't want to date a man still living with his parents. She wants to know if a potential mate can provide for her and her children..someday..living with your parents and admitedly being financially unstable is a HUGE turn off..even for marriageminded women.

I think you need to move out and find your own place. Like you said, you're 28 years old, and your family won't be around forever to take care of you. They have earned the right to have to just take care of themselves, not you too.

I'm so glad to hear that there are people who are wise enough to think for themselves .
I think it's great to live with your parents and get along with them after all those are your parents who gave you everything and made you the way that you are in now.
I think you should stay with them until you get married and even live close bu to make sure they're happy when they grow older.
Parents do alot for their kids and kids should know that they will be treated the same way they treat their folks.
Thank you for being a good son.
I have a 27 year old daughter who lives with us and a 25 year old son who's with us too.My daughter is engaged to be married soon so I'm looking forward to having my grand kids soon.
In my way of thinking your way is the right way.

Nothing wrong with loving your family.
Nothing wrong with learning to be financially independent either. I wouldn't make my parents support me if I could do it myself. That's selfish. Selfishness is unattractive. SO there.
