Headphones putting out popping sound?

Just got new headphones and they seem to be putting out popping noises in the background. It only makes this sound while any sort of audio is playing. I have no idea why it's doing this, but, it's bloody annoying. Any advice?

if it doesn't do it thru the system speakers, and u must listen closely because u would be more sensitive to it in a headphone, then it is a problem with the headset.
a bad diaphragm might cause it but it would be strange for both to do it unless the headset is really cheap.
