I know that 2-3 is not much to work with. I know it will fall on deaf ears and the current Mormons won't understand. That's okay.

I ask this because Current Mormons think that ex-mormons are a these big bad bullies that hate them (or that is what they are taught to believe)

I don't think that ex-mormons are big bad bullies that hate me, and I've never been taught to believe that. In fact, I know many people that are ex-members, they're good people.

What I dislike is the phrasing of some of your questions and then when we answer your questions truthfully you waive them off as canned or unintelligent.

I get it, you don't believe in the gospel anymore. That's fine. You have a right to your opinion and I even enjoy some of your questions.

So, lest you think I'm just one more of the mindless gospel-jockeys, think again. I'm more than willing to have an intelligent conversation about the gospel, just start asking better questions instead of dwelling on things that aren't even gospel related, like how to get ahold of a copy of the JOD (and then adding to your question when I give you the answer you asked for).

Hi, it is not only Mormons who go through this, as an ex Catholic I felt the same way when I found out the truth. Why don't you write about your story of discovery. I went from religious to atheist and then to spiritual. Remember no religion that forces you to conform or feel guilty can be enlightening (which is what God is-enlightenment). I did not find God until I left religion. I wish you luck and hope you can find a support system outside of your church that is positive. Remember any friends who will reject you because of your race/religion/sexual orientation are not friends anyways - this may be the greatest reason for feelings of pain and agony - the loss of a very large support network. Always respect yourself and remember: It is important not be be permiscuous/a liar/a cheat/ addicted to harmful substances/ mean/ self destructive because respecting the self is respecting everything of light/good/enlightenment/God that has been given you. Have reverence and give thanks for what you have not with blind worship/praise but with acknowledgement and care for what you have. I've seen so many who lose their faith and lose it all - this is just the beginning of truly finding it - something inside of you knew that your ex religion was not satisfying your spirit. Now is your chance to find something positive that does...You may feel like the rug has been pulled from under you for years but keep searching till you find your own truth (you'll know it not because it makes you happy/lucky/fortunate but because it makes the inside quiet - enlightenment). PS I would advise you not to trust any religion that enforces too many "rules" or attempts to supress human nature rather than work with it. You may be very spiritually vulnerable at this time so watch out for cults and spiritual preditors. Read "The Seat of the Soul" by Gary Kuzav - it gave me new perspectives.

I'm not an ex-mormon but i do know that there are some pretty good groups on facebook that talk about this. Look up ex-mormon where you would search for a name and then click on groups.

Yeah.. I think that mormons have been decieved by Joseph Smith the founders but they seem like good people now. Interesting how they believe in polygamy after death and multiple gods yet claim to be like any other christian but then at the same time claim to be the only christians going to the celestial kingdom. Oh yeah.. and then theres the whole curse of cain thing....

Well, I'm not really going to answer your question per se, sorry! I am not active, I haven't gone for a while (4 yrs) I still believe it's all true, it's a huge part of who I am. I just got tired of behaving. If you really think all mormons think ex-mormons are big bad bullies, aren't you being just as naive as they are?

Nah.. not all of us think that my cheesey rice-a-licious friend...

I'm a current Mormon.. and I have nothing against any Ex-Mormons. To each his own. We all have a right to believe whatever we want.

We aren't taught to hate anyone.. not by the church anyways. Unfortunately, some Mormons, especially here in SLC, are judgemental as all hell... and end up teaching their children to hate.

I don't think they are living by the standards of the church when they act that way.

I think I knew the truth all the time, I was just ignoring it like all my ward members they made it easy for me to stop hiding the truth from myself, if it wasn't for the fact that I was so extememly shy and made fun of in my ward, I think I would still be a mormon. The mormon network didn't even save me from fleeing (the visiting teachers and the priesthood holders that come visit you every month to make sure a person doe snot fall away), I think the goddess thing kind of kept me hooked as well. Who doesn't want to be a god and think they can have worshipers on a planet all to themselves? But then the my family dysfunction set in, all the screaming and emotional, verbal, mental and physical and possible sexual abuse set in and I just knew this was bullcrap. A relationship with God was suppose to make me happy, even if my family was dysfunctional and I was suicidal all the time, so it was time to quit.

Like a few others who answered this, I took the lessons and wanted to believe, but just could not. They kept telling me "You must desire to believe" and "You must pray about it". I was supposed to do that in spite of my doubts and in spite of the fact that what they were teaching felt false and basically made me feel like they were trying to brain wash me and pressure me like some frustrated salesmen counting on a commission. I never got baptized because I refused to do it unless it made sense to me. I asked too many questions that they had no answers for.

I think that people who are not raised in a religion are the best candidates for learning and accepting a true religion because they should not be biased towards any one religion. Unfortunately, most religious people are born and raised in one and that makes it harder for them to think outside their little realm. I have a lot of respect for anyone who was born into it and was strong enough to have their own ideas and question enough to break out - it must be very difficult.

your finished 'subject' revolves around a misinterpretation of this scripture: Galatians a million:8 the gospel isn't a distinctive gospel yet is a similar gospel taught via Jesus the Christ. apparently sufficient - in case you examine somewhat added on (vs 12 to illustrate) you detect that Paul exhibits that he (an apostle) became taught the main suitable gospel by revelation from Jesus Christ. there is largely the LDS church that asserts that via a residing prophet of God --- all others are actually working from interpretation surpassed down by guy.....IMHO, that, besides because of the fact the ecumenical councils, greater healthful the define of Galations far greater wisely than JS and Moroni. Revelations 22:18 For I testify unto each and every guy that heareth the words of the prophecy of this e book, If any guy shall upload unto those issues, God shall upload unto him the plagues that are written in this e book. via your reasoning something previous Deuteronomy may be sure via a similar rule - because of the fact it says this comparable element there. John states, "Hereby be conscious of ye the Spirit of God: each and every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is are available in the flesh is of God: 7fc56270e7a7fa81a5935b72eacbe29nd each and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is are available in the flesh isn't of God" (a million John 4:2–3). JS likewise taught, "...if I profess to be a witness or instructor, and have not the spirit of prophecy, that's the testimony of Jesus, i ought to be a faux witness.... [A]long island guy who says he's a instructor or preacher of righteousness, and denies the spirit of prophecy, is a liar, and if reality learn not in him; and via this key fake instructor and impostors may be detected" The angel Moroni who regarded to Joseph Smith shown that "Jesus Christ became are available in the flesh" via quoting OT/NT scriptures that have been fulfilled together with his coming (Joseph Smith—historic previous a million:40). He additionally reported that his (Moroni's) objective became to bare a e book "giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent" and containing the (W7fc56270e7a7fa81a5935b72eacbe29IT FOR IT!) "eternal Gospel...as further via the Savior" following his mortal ministry. For devil to motivate those latter-day truths is going counter to Christ's own teachings (Matthew 12:25–26; additionally Matthew 9:33–34; Mark 3:22–30; Luke 11:14–26; epic fail.

Took me several decades to put it all together, or rather watch it unravel completely. It is exhilarating, exciting, and the pressure is finally off to be 'perfect'. The unreachable 'worthiness' nonsense is discarded in favor of genuine goals. I've got new friends who don't discriminate. I can read any book I please, and the Discovery Channel is my favorite - especially any show about precolumbian Americans. I can even say "Dallin Oakes is the biggest idiot ever" and be assured that Jesus thinks the same way.

The downside is the way your family treats you when they discover you've been 'set free'.

Now my goal is to prevent other people from being assimulated into the 'Morg'.

I never really believed in the first place. I was really only frustrated that I couldn't have the belief that seemed to make everyone else around me in the church so happy. That's why I never actually became a member, so it wasn't a big deal when I left.
